ancient Mew jewelry
!!!
I bought two of these holographic Pokemon cards online and used one (along with some Ice Resin, bases from Joann's, and a small labradorite stone) to make a pair of half-inch plugs and a couple of pendants.
they'll be fully cured and ready to wear in two to three days
Round 2:
Ice Resin
Also picked up some watch movement scraps and assorted things with which to experiment.
Top left are spare parts I purchased from the bead store, and top right is a pendant I just made and am waiting on to cure. Within it are spare watch parts and a portion of the last page from my old copy of Hitchhiker's Guide, by Douglas Adams.
Resin coating a pastel drawing on wood panel.
1. & 2. I glued a pastel drawing of Mewtwo onto a wood panel with an old mixed media bird wing illustration.
3. Using a jar of gesso, I elevate the board after aligning medical tape along the edges of the reverse side (to keep drips off of the back of the wood panel).
4. After mixing the two resin components in a clean jar with a wooden chopstick, I slowly pour the resin over the drawing. I use a business card to smooth the resin over the board and gently scrape it from the sides.
5. After admiring how shiny it is, I take a bright light and scope for cat hairs, bubbles, dust - removing them carefully with the wooden chopstick.
6. To ensure no hairs and dust and junk land on it as it dries, I apply a tall box over the board.
Now we wait!
making the mold (with metal tape for various reasons), then to cast the resin and wait three days for the clear coat to set on this deer girl
