People crap on Dragon Ball power levels by saying they make no sense and are wildly inconsistent, without realizing that that’s literally the point Toriyama was making.
There are multiple moments in Z where someone sees a character’s power level and thinks they’ve got the fight down pat, only to get demolished.
I mean, you would think the fact that the villains were always the ones using power levels because of their resistance to learning new things would tip people off to the fact that the whole power level idea was meant to be stupid
Dragon Ball x Sonic crossover au where, instead of Sonic characters just being in the Dragon Ball world, Sonic characters go through both the normal Sonic story arcs and the Dragon Ball sagas.
So one year they are fighting against the metal virus and the next year Sonic is on his death bed with the heart virus.
They go to Namek one month and when they get back to Earth they have to stop the Eggman empire from taking over the world.
Both the chaos emeralds and the dragon balls exist.
Sonic can use the chaos emeralds to go super, but he can go Super Saiyan of his own accord.
Going super gives him basically infinite stamina and increased strength, but it needs chaos emeralds to work. Going Super Saiyan makes him much stronger, and he can do it at will, but it is also much harder to control, makes him incredibly angry, and takes a lot of energy.
(So many ideas are floating around in my mind)
(But also some plot points are combined. For example, the Namekians are actually Echidna’s, and Sonic and Shadow are Saiyans)

I have this idea in my mind that Supreme Kai (our “Shin”) is stronger than all the other universe’s Supreme Kais because Beerus was so monumentally bad at his job that Shin basically had to take up the role of destroyer when everything went to shit.
As far as we know, beings like Majin Buu didn’t exist in any of the other universes (he might have existed in universe 6 but it doesn’t look like it. Maybe Champa actually did his job or he was just never created)
Idk, I just think it would be really interesting to see the power levels/fighting power of all the Kais. We know Beerus is one of the strongest destroyers; maybe Shin is one of the strongest Kais?

I don't think Dragon Ball Z Abridged is "more accurate" or anything like that, but I do think that if they didn't want people elevating it above the original work they shouldn't have gone so hard on the serious parts. Like, the Cell Saga has a lot of scenes that are just fully dramatic with zero jokes. That pushes it into being both parody and a valid alternate dub, if we're going to speak in those terms. But members of TFS would say they don't want it thought of that way, and it's like, well, why did they make it that way then, right?
Very fair. I always get confused by that too. It’s like, why are you saying you don’t want ppl to think it’s better than the original when there were moments where you went out of your way to try and make it better than the original?
But I can kinda see where they’re coming from. When you make something for a fandom you love, you want it to be the best it can be, like fanfics. But when people start saying they like what you made more than the original work, it’s kinda infuriating. Like, ya, I wanted this to be really good, but this wouldn’t exist without what you just made fun of. So I can understand the annoyance TFS has sometimes. I don’t particularly like a lot of their opinions, but I at least respect their love for the series.
I think the real problem is how incessant the abridged fandom is, especially because most of it is made up of ppl who either haven’t watched the original DBZ, or have forgotten everything about it. (It’s really annoying when ppl make claims about dragon ball that are so obviously wrong, but at the same time so obviously something they learned from abridged, like Goku not needing to take his medicine being turned into Goku not wanting to take it)
Comedy series are often elevated by the small splices of drama they have, but I think the main issue is that most of the people who watched Abridged watched it as only a comedy series, instead of a parody series.
They also think the dramatic scenes elevate the entire series, which they don’t. They at most elevate a moment or an episode. It doesn’t retroactively make the series better (in the same way a lighthearted show switching to horror wouldn’t automatically make the show better).
I’ll be the first to say the dramatic scenes in abridged are great, but the issue is when the audience thinks these scenes are what make the abridged series better than the original, when the dramatic scenes the abridged series does have come directly from the original series. Android 16’s talk and Gohan’s ssj2 transformation chiefly. Those are literally just recreations of the original Dragon Ball Z moments, and thats a big reason as to why they are so impactful.
But anyway, ya, I totally see what you mean. I’ve gotten mad about it a few times too. It’s just overall so disheartening seeing people dunk on a show because they think the show they like is better, when the show they like wouldn’t exist without the show they just dunked on.

I always laugh super hard when anime or shonen critics say something along the lines of “Luffy and Goku are basically the same character” or “Luffy is just a reskin of Goku”.
Cause like, ya on a surface level I guess that could be true, but Goku quite literally despises the basic concept that Luffy lives by.
Goku does NOT like pirates (granted, Luffy probably would also dislike the pirates Goku has gone up against. Then again, he fights alongside Kid, so idk)
The first actual pirate Goku fought (Raditz) not only kidnapped his son, but also was the reason he(Goku) DIED. So, that doesn’t really set a great precedent.
It’s not really something you think about when you watch these shows back to back, but when you realize it, it makes for SUCH a big difference between Luffy and Goku.
Cause like, the only pirate Goku has come to tolerate and like is Vegeta, and that’s because Vegeta STOPPED being a pirate lol.
(Also, Goku’s world government isn’t that corrupt, so that would also probably add to his dislike of pirates. In his world at least)
