Hi yes I am a relatively new DM and I have a started campaign that’s on hiatus because I was just, not having fun.
It’s my first ever campaign, I’ve DM’d small silly oneshots before but I wanted to run curse of Strahd. (Probably not the best campaign for me to start with but hindsight is 20/20)
Long story short I just wasn’t having a good time. Along with severely poor planning on my end, some of players refused to rp, they skipped over areas and npcs in the city of Barovia and constantly continued to cut me off while I was trying to have a serious, scary, moment when meeting Strahd for the first time.
This leads up to me kicking two of our six players out and me wanting to restart the entire campaign. Leaving the four players that I live with
My brother and found brother are okay with restarting completely, even making new characters if they need to, but the issue lies with my dad.
He wants to take the characters from the two people I kicked out and continue the story. Outwardly refusing to restart.
Is this an unfair request? Should I suck it up and just let them continue with the story?
We’re only three sessions in, and have barely done anything. Any and all commentary/advice is welcome and greatly appreciated
Edit to add on: my dad also had pressured me into running an impromptu session for the third session. It was a decent session but I still was just not having a good time especially because he’d only given a little less than a day and a half to prepare for said campaign. He’d also pressured me into letting our landlord roommate Josh play, at the time I was still very uncomfortable around Josh and resented them both for it.
