Sketch of Anora and Loghain for a thingy I'm trying to do
i have no interest in watching the last duel but anora mac tir’s hair should look like that
like this
also like these (from braveheart, ophelia, the hollow crown, barbarians, tristan and isolde, hamlet 1990, the lion in winter)
Not to bring up Ferelden again but one of my favorite bits of "things I only learned from reading the wiki" is Anora's teenage rebellion involved dragging her boy toy Cailan on adventures to *checks notes* kill giants. Kingdom with the most normal nobility.
if you mean what i think you do it’s actually the cutest and most haunting thing ever. its from a dialogue route if u ask companion loghain about young anora:
Warden: Did she have many friends?
Loghain: Gwaren sits in betweeen the Brecilian Forest and the sea. It's far from the old Tevinter roads. The village by out keep was never even as big as Redcliffe. There were always a few children around. Charcoal burners’ sons and daughters, mostly, or the children of servants. They formed into noisy gangs in the courtyard for their games. But Anora never joined them.
Warden: What about in Denerim? Did she have friends there?
Loghain: [fond] Cailan. He was a bit younger than she was, but Anora would lead him about the palace like a puppy on a leash, deep in adventures together. I believe the two of them once fought an army of ogres in the wine cellar. That was their explanation for all the broken bottles, anyway.
restructuring my opinion of loghain’s perspective on cailan because i imagined for a second being for all intents and purposes in love with a guy (maric) and it’s a completely lost cause and you watch him marry someone else (rowan) who you are ALSO in love with i fucking guess, so theyre married and you exist through that and they have a son you help raise who grows up with your daughter. eventually their son and your daughter get married. then their son cheats on your daughter repeatedly because that’s what kings do, and after all how could people like you and your daughter with all your unending loyalty ever expect to be enough for them. and he’s a fool and your brilliant lonely daughter knows it and still loves him. she does his whole job for him and he’s essentially done more than was expected of him simply by keeping these affairs relatively quiet and not publicly humiliating her. she calls him “thoughtful” for that. people write him letters about how he should set her aside because sure she’s ruled the country for him but she hasn’t given him heirs and preserving his precious bloodline is all that matters. i’d have lost it earlier quite honestly

Queen Anora Mac Tir; Queen Cousland
- Anora, staring from her window in the palace after the Battle of Denerim, and feeling as if she can see every ruined building in the city.
- Anora dedicating herself to restoration projects in the capital, rebuilding the heart of the country she loves so much.
- Anora, without a drop of royal blood, bringing the banns and teyrns into line; they will support her, or she will leave them powerless in her wake.
- Anora, whose bed has been empty for years -for all of Cailan’s talk of heirs and children he thought nothing of how often he left her to sleep alone- laughing as she considers her future prospects. Perhaps she will take a lover. Or three.
- Anora smiling to herself as she removes bard after bard from her court, leaving only those she wishes to use behind
- Anora, beloved of the people, who is greeted with cheers and flowers whenever she ventures from the palace gates.
- Anora, head held high as the nobles swear fealty, knowing they are strong enough to withstand all the might of Orlais.
- Anora Mac Tir, Queen of Ferelden, her fathers daughter, finding her line, clearly drawn, and knowing nothing will ever get past her.
