JOANNEBURTONSEED in FAR CRY: NEW DAWN
“I really thought coming here would do me some good, y’know? I’d set myself straight, get a lil’ bit of fresh air, drink by the riverside. But—this place, this, this fucking County, God.
Next thing you know, you’re trying to scrub your hands clean for hours and, even after all that, you’d still feel the guts and the blood slick on your fingers as you run through the Mountains, firing back without even looking, without even caring. Kill or be killed. And—when all of that was said and done, after countless people lost their lives and their homes and their loved ones?
Boom.
Fuck, I still recall the first bomb going off. Blinding. Ringing.
The ones who still had something precious to them after the Holy War saw its end lost everything in an instant. Me? I was unfortunate enough to have the absolute fucking pleasure of being stripped of everything I held dear. Bit by bit. I saw some of my friends burning in hellfire, and then I—I had to watch as my husband faded into nothingness, slowly and painfully and, afterwards, I lost myself. I know I did, and, frankly, I don’t care.
This world is rotten, kid. Don’t hold out too much hope. We’re all doomed anyway.”

Changes and Deleted Content Part 1 - Far Cry New Dawn
This is a small passion project series of posts where I share some insight of what’s hidden in the game(s) files, but also some general observations. The main focus will be on character changes or deletions with a few words about functions and deprecated missions.
What will not be touched upon are a lot of the things the Resistance Mod (Scavenger for ND) on PC restores, namely deleted store weapons and clothes, weather systems and general gameplay related things like skinning animations. I also won’t go into audio files and their content, as @lulu2992 is already working on an amazing series for FC5 that summarizes them per character.
I start off with New Dawn, because there is far less to talk about here overall. However, in terms of characters there’s still some interesting things to be found, the main one possibly that I’m very very certain Faith was supposed to be in the game!
go to where it all ended. and where it all began.
New Dawn has me feeling some type of way, especially since my dep probably hasn’t seen her friends in 17 years and has missed her goddaughter’s every birthday when she had sworn to herself to love and cherish her forever ;n;
[1/∞] list of Original Characters: Jr. Deputy Joanne Burton → Far Cry 5
Despite the cheap, suffocating polyester of her shirt, the misspelled embroidery of her name ( Burton, not Barton. Geez, Nance; should have asked for Deputy instead— ), Joanne doesn’t mind her uniform. After all, to Jo, getting on the force had always seemed like an unattainable goal. For no matter how good or sharp she was, nor how well her Police Academy results came out, her track record was forever-stained with past, juvenile mistakes—DUIs and parties and, worst of all, drugs. Despite being rejected by nearly every agency in the Northwest, Joanne had persevered and pushed and shoved, until her speckled case finally lands into the hands of one Sheriff Earl Whitehorse up in Hope County, Montana.
Nearly empty-handed and in dire need of new recruits who could hold their own against the growing menace inside his county, Sheriff Whitehorse decides to give Joanne Burton a chance.
And Jo, not fully comprehending what she is getting herself into, jumps at the opportunity.
( Having said that, with this post, and with the current events taking place in America, I implore you to help out the black community if you are able to! For internationals like me, here are some zip codes. No money? No problem! Have some to spare? Go at it! I think all of us, in the Far Cry 5 fandom especially, with our playable character being who they are, and a lot of our OCs presented as law enforcement like Jo over here is, we need to stay aware of the brutal mistreatment of POC by and in the hands of people who are supposed to protect us. Of course, I am aware this is just a video game, and we’re all just having fun and are trying to escape the horrors outside, but writing this bio had left a bitter taste in my mouth, regardless, and for good reason. #blacklivesmatter, ya’ll. )
