RTD: I've thought about this for years. When we were making Silence in the Library, you once told me the very last scene ever of doctor who. does it still stand?

MOFFAT: No memory of this. Went back through my emails and found it! This from when we were shooting those shows, I think: In my head (and ONLY in my head, this will probably never appear on screen, or be confirmed in any way) River's not just his wife - she's his widow. somewhere in the terrible future, on a battlefield, the 45th Doctor dies in her arms and makes her the same promise she once made him - it's not over for you, you'll see me again. So River buries her husband and off she goes to have lots of adventures with his younger selves and confuse the hell out of them. Until, of course, she ends up in the data core of the library planet, and realises she'll never seem him again. And then she starts to wonder why anyone would call a moon "Doctor". Ah... Yeah, some version of that could still work. The Doctor worrying that she'll get lonely in the library, and popping his dying mind inside a moon. God, look at those words. I actually typed those words!!!

RTD: I can't believe you didn't remember! I've never forgotten that Doctor Moon thing, it's so clever. Every time i watch that story, I think, it's him, it's The Doctor, and no one knows!.

Alex Kingston recounts meeting Jodie Whittaker at San Diego Comic-Con ‘18

Original Post by Amanda Loose Key / @Rdkil on Twitter

BONUS: Chris Chibnall’s fanboy moment.

Alex: “[SDCC] is huge! I didn’t really get to see many fans because it’s so much about the corporate machine and the studios promoting their latest movies so we were sort of being taken from hotel to hotel to talk to the press and promote all of this [A Discovery of Witches]. We’d been at the HardRock and we were coming down in the elevator and I could see that there were sort of, throngs of people at the bottom of the elevator waiting to get into the elevator to go up to do their press interviews and I sort of came out of the elevator and I just heard this voice go “Alex! Alex!” and it was Jodie! She was waiting to go up and she gave me this big hug and I was like “Oh my god! It’s so good to see you, wife!” And she was all, “Ah! It’s so good to see you too, wife!” And Chris Chibnall was taking pictures and he was like, “OMG this is like, the happiest moment of my life!” And he posted them! He posted them on the BBC website. And then within a couple of hours the BBC took them down. But the fans had seen!”

What I was very keen to write was what’s she like when he’s not there & that’s what we see for most of the episode. The slightly more ruthless, slightly more cavalier, less moral River that isn’t on her best behaviour because the love of her life, the endlessly pious Doctor, isn’t around.

Doctor does feel very guilty, very guilty about River. Well, you know, he has to watch her die. To watch someone like that, who’s clearly going to be someone important throughout the course of his time stream, in different ways, we don’t know how, he doesn’t know how, but he has an inkling - he has an inkling about everything, but yeah, that hurts him. And he hates losing people he loves. And River is one of them. For sure. [Matt Smith]

I know there’s wasn’t many mentions of River in the special (or they were at least very very subtle) but when I watched the special in cinema there was a piece before the special where Moffat mentioned his favorite episodes in his era, and he talked about how he liked THORS because it was about “two people who love each other, but is never quite sure whether the other person loves them back” so that’s pretty much the first time he’s said out loud that the Doctor loves River, so that’s nice??
