Doctor Who Rewatch [ Season 5 ] ↳ “ The Doctor and Amy Pond, and the days that never came. ”
there’s a world of wonders out there, amy, and you can choose to explore it with your every curiosity or contain yourself in solitude;
The Girl in the Fireplace and the Girl in the Garden
“It is customary, I think, to have an imaginary friend only during one’s childhood. You are to be congratulated on your persistence.”
Two children, whose greatest fear has found its way to their bedroom. A mysterious man, who seems to know just what to do in such a grave danger and becomes the imaginary friend of an extraordinary girl. Almost by pure chance, a meeting years later – stolen kisses, the promise of travelling, and finally a letter. Two tales starting and finding their end, reflections of one another. And it was worth it. Except they are not the same. It’s not the same woman, the same girl, the same story.
Reinette Poisson and Amelia Pond are not exact opposites of one another, but their paths are distinct. The mirror between them is a door to a different world. On the surface, it is easy to observe a fascination with similar themes and story elements. Under the surface, the result is a fascinating study in how different characters respond to parallel circumstances and similar events can be filled with different, contrasting meanings.
The girl in the fireplace has never been alone in her life. The girl in the garden waits, suitcase carried down from her room, from that big empty house, too big, really, with just her in it. And that is only the beginning.
Amy Pond has no characteristics> She’s not interested in art, she hasn’t got a favourite artist whom she was delighted to meet, and she isn’t a talented artist herself. (And the Doctor never once had a whole scene where he realised Amy was Amy because she was surrounded by drawings and models.)
We’re all stories in the end.
The Ponds relationship in stages,
Dear God, you're hard work young.
Happy River Song Appreciation Day!
You’re special. That crack in your wall, all that time. The universe pouring into your head.
It’s you. It’s all about you. Everything. It’s about you.

There’s a little girl waiting in a garden. She’s going to wait a long while, so she’s going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story.
When you’re a kid, they tell you it’s all… grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that’s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It’s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better.
Amy Williams. It’s time to stop waiting.
Can we take a moment to realise that up until this scene, he had still seen Amy as a child? His little Amelia, who never grew up and never grew old. The Doctor didn’t just destroy her dream that night, but his own. He wouldn’t be able to travel with her forever.

Dear Santa, Thank you for the dolls and pencils and the fish. It’s Easter now, so I hope I didn’t wake you. But honest, it is an emergency. There’s a crack in my wall. Aunt Sharon says it’s just an ordinary crack but I know it’s not. Because at night there’s voices. So please, please could you send someone to fix it. Or a policeman… or… [hears the TARDIS crashing in the backyard.] Back in a moment. [Looks out the window.] Thank you Santa.
