Besides, the depictions of the sun as male and the moon as female are based on mythology that’s over five thousand years old, it’s not like some random thing. 

I also can’t actually remember seeing them presented this way in modern times, even in media I see them more often both girls or both boys.

This person is not ready to hear about French nouns.

In Japanese Shinto mythology, the sun is a girl and the moon is a boy.
