Keyleth fundamentally misunderstands Vax's service to the Raven Queen, which is not to say I blame her at all! The Matron has not bound Vax to pay a debt, there is no "payment". Vax chose to serve the Matron. The circumstances of his death were unexpected and terrible, yes, but the Matron did not steal him. Keyleth (and Vex) still thinks he is paying her back for saving Vex. Vax spent years coming to terms with what serving the Matron would mean and *he chose it* in the blood pool in Vasselheim.

But how can Keyleth come to her own terms with his choice if he keeps sending her ravens? How is she supposed to know what that means?

I don't know. Like, I know they want Vax back at the table, but I (personally) would not enjoy that ending as much. I love how bittersweet his ending is. I love the tragedy of it. It's kind of the same for me as the way I love that Molly never came back. You know, it was Molly, then Lucien, then Kingsley. It feels like it would cheapen the initial loss of those characters if they were to ever come back in a permanent way. I know that they live in a magical world and all things are technically possible if you're powerful enough, but these things show that there are consequences to their actions and they are wonderful narrative choices and I don't want to see them magically fixed away.

Laughed so hard at Matt’s whispered “that’s why they built the handles” about the Beacon after Lieve’tel failed that wisdom save and got distracted. He’s wanted to explain that worldbuilding for a while haha.

I find Percy’s comment to Vax about the children “finally finding out how much [he’s] embellishing the memory of you,” while a very Percy quip, to be so telling about Vox Machina’s collective denial about Vax.

Because it’s meant as a quip, a jab like they used to do, the implication being Vax hasn’t changed. But Vax doesn’t react. He has changed. He is not 100% Vax anymore.

None of them, not Vex not Keyleth not Percy, are having a normal conversation with him like old times and talking to the person they knew. But they’re pretending they are. They are clinging to the thing Percy is actively embellishing as the Champion stands in front of him: the memory of Vax.

Hey JUST SO YOU KNOW if you tag a fic as "dead dove - do not eat," but you don't include ANY type of tag or archive warning about the potentially triggering content in the fic, that is not in fact a "dead dove - do not eat" type of situation. The gag in that scene was that the bag was clearly labelled and Michael opened it anyway and of course found exactly what he was warned about. If you don't actually tag your triggering fics except with "dead dove do not eat," you are not only misusing the term but also just extremely inconsiderate 👍🏻
