You know I don’t think I’ve really… registered what just happened yet. Like I’m still floating along, knowing intellectually who won the US election, but not quite believing it
It all just seems so unreal, you know ?
71 million people voted for a convicted criminal over a WOC. 71 million people showed that they value their gas prices over women’s lives, over disabled people’s lives, over POC’s lives, over queer people’s lives
A sizable chunk of that 71 million were those things themselves
It just… it feels like a horror movie. Knowing what’s happening, that trans rights are gonna collapse like a house of cards, that Gaza is all but obliterated already, that millions of millions of people are about to go through the worst hell I can think of
And this is happening in America, of all places. America. This isn’t right. Y’all aren’t supposed to be like this.
I’m in a third-world country. To me, America is working proof that queer rights, that women’s rights, that disabled people’s rights, can exist somewhere. That they’re not just empty pipe dreams
America. If this can happen to America, of all places, then what hope is there for the likes of us ?
Is this what it was like for the people of the 1920s, watching as Weimar was swallowed up by Nazi Germany ?
