hello again, writing anon here! i just wanted to say that the last writing you did was amazing! i'd love to just write something about them too, because i feel like it's really good, and i love it- i also think it's worth to ask, but in the end, will shattered be able to love his children like he wanted? he said he felt nothing towards them, so when the twins managed to hug him (in your other writings) did he manage to love them in the end? love your content! keep it up♥️
Oh hi writing anon!
As always if you wanna write something please feel free, your writing is aways amazing. I look forward to it.
As for your second question its tricky. Might be alittle long.
Basically for him Dream, has never been a naturally fraternal or paternal person. Not to mention with the 'birth' would have been immensely traumatic. Can you imagine not knowing you were pregnant and then going into labour alone for twins?
Dream doesn't feel the natural kind of love that the most parents feel upon the birth of their kids because they are strangers to him. It doesn't matter that they are babies they're still strangers.
Over the next two months he watches Cross look after them and then he sees who they are as well... people. He learns more about them from a distance.
As I said and I quote from baby blues "the need to care for them and the need not to care for them battled within him" as he learns more about them from a distance and sees cross interact with them he really really desires to have that same kind of connection cross has, but he also desires to never form that connection because he can sense that they're very sick.
When they hug him it moves something within him. His desire to kill them was shattered. He sees that even though he's not been around they love him, he can sense that they care for him greatly because he feels emotion. That's what causes him to cry it causes him to finally break down. It causes him to finally feel something.
Then he starts to help cross he learns of their personality, he learns that Luna is incredibly curious and that Celest is incredibly happy and giggly and he learns to love them as people. That's when he truly start the care. Though there's a part of him that always felt immensely guilty for not being able to love them straight away and he often wonders if he really is broken.
It causes him to have moments of distancing himself. He just can't take all the emotion it's still too much.
Hope that makes sense. The short answer is yes he does, but it's a long and difficult journey.
