Day 6; The power of LOVE

Ccino stared out into his cafe, the soothing colors and comfortable booths blurred by the tears streaking down his cheeks. His soul felt as though it had burst, and as Nightmare slowly turned around to meet Ccino's gaze, the bartender didn't know what to feel. Didn't know what to think. His whole world had suddenly been thrown upsidedown and he was caught in the middle of the turmoil.

Nightmare stared at Ccino with a wide, frantic gaze, an expression Ccino didn't recognize on his otherwise calm and collected lover. His tentacles, one still pierced through a single monster's chest, twitched.

"Ccino..." Nightmare's gruff voice felt suddenly threatening as it spoke Ccino's name, and the bartender jerked back as his lover reached a hand out towards him. "Ccino, please..." The caramel skeleton stared at the dust and blood covering Nightmare's hand as it neared him. "Don't look at me like that."

Ccino jerked back despite how far away Nightmare still was, and the reality of the situation hit him. His caramel gaze flickered over his ruined cafe. The bodies. The dust, the blood, the gaping jaws of the dead from when they had screamed their last breath- and it was all because of Nightmare. Nightmare did this. Of course Ccino knew what his lover was capable of, but now that it all was right before him, he could only let out a choked sob.

Those monsters were powerless, Ccino had been powerless, and all he could do was sit in horror and watch as Nightmare tore them all to shreds. He listened to each of their screams and watched Nightmare run on a blood lust like never before.

And now, as Ccino met Nightmare's gaze, he didn't know who this monster was anymore. This wasn't the grumpy tsundere who would always tease Ccino about his clumsiness. This was a demon.

Nightmare's emotionless features suddenly softened, and his hand slowly fell back to his side. His brows furrowed as he watched Ccino's tears drip to the bar counter he was standing over, and he had to stop himself from walking over and wiping them away. He hated the look Ccino was giving him. His usually bright, round caramel gaze were pinpricks of horror, glazed over in his panic. His small frame was trembling violently, and Nightmare could only watch in solemn silence as he took a shaking step back.

"Y-y-you... my... they're all dead..." Ccino stammered before breaking down into more wet sobs.

Nightmare looked away, slowly sliding his tentacle out of a monster's chest. "I never meant for you to see me like this." He said quietly. Ccino began shaking his head, a hand moving to cover his own mouth. As much as he tried to speak, no noise came out of his mouth.

"Look at you..." Nightmare's voice rasped. He slowly stepped over a dusting body, gracefully making his way through the mess he had made. Ccino took a step back as his lover neared. "This wasn't what I planned out for today." Nightmare said quietly as he walked up to the bar counter. Ccino could only stare at him in obvious indecisiveness as the villain rested a bloody hand on the counter between the two of them.

"We were supposed to go out for that rocky road nice cream you keep gushing over." He whispered. Ccino felt his soul and logical thought warring as Nightmare looked back up at him. His posture was slumped. He looked defeated. He looked so tired. He was just tired. That's all. "Killer's waiting for us near the park."

Ccino's soul warmthened. Despite what Nightmare did... despite the demon Ccino just witnessed... he just couldn't bring himself to hate Nightmare. He always said he would never hurt Ccino, and the bartender trusted Nightmare with all his soul.

"... really?" Ccino whispered. Nightmare stared at him before releasing a long breath. He reached a hand out, gently cupping Ccino's face and wiping his tears away. "Of course."

Ccino flinched at his touch, eyesockets wide. How could these hands, which choked dozens, touch him so carefully? He stared into Nightmare's one cyan eyelight, which had always gazed at him with such care, and for a moment he forgot about it. He forgot about everything.

"Nightmare-" Ccino choked out before throwing his arms around his lover. Nightmare stiffened in surprise as the other skeleton practically fell over the counter in between them. "Nightmare, I don't understand-" Ccino sobbed, his grip around the goopy skeleton tightening.

Nightmare could only stand in shock for a moment. Out of all the things he expected, this was not one of them. Rage, distrust, sorrow- none of it was there. All he felt was trust, fear, and something else he wasn't yet familiar with.

Slowly, he embraced Ccino's shaking figure. "It's okay." He murmured, gently pulling Ccino up and over the counter so he could pull him as close as possible. "I'm sorry. It wasn't something I could control, I didn't mean for ANY of this to happen."

He held Ccino close as he released another hiccuping sob. "T-t-then what ha-appened?!" He cried out, burying his face into Nightmare's coat.

The villain could only shake his head. ".... My LOVE. It's been acting up. Since I've been hanging around here more often, there's been less negativity, and...I snapped. I'm sorry." He breathed out as Ccino pulled away. He met the other's teary caramel gaze and felt his soul melt a bit. "Don't you hate me?"

Ccino stared at him before resting his head on Nightmare's shoulder. "Of course I don't. I could never. Of course I don't..." He repeated quietly. He knew Nightmare was dangerous... but no matter how much LOVE Nightmare kept in store, Ccino loved him 10X more. Nothing could ever tell him otherwise. Not even mass genocide. As much as Ccino told himself he was stupid for it, he didn't really mind.

"But... can we please get out of here ? And pretend none of this happened?" Ccino's voice was hoarse from crying and Nightmare felt something he hadn't in a while. He felt guilty.

"... Of course."

"... And can we still go get nice cream?"

Nightmare chuckled humorlessly. "Of course."

"And see Killer?"

"Yes, Ccino."

"But before all of that... please take a shower or something."

"Anything you wish."

Not exactly what I had in mind when I began to write this, but I ended up having to rush at the end. And poor Killer didn't get his time to shine.

i had a couple of headcanons about him, but i’ll be showing some doodles first to illustrate them because yes

now to the headcanons!

i like to think that cc doesn’t trust nightmare at all, and that for different reasons;

it’s only headcanons for now, so don’t expect anything canon here

if we take into account that ccino has been in several abusive relationships, cc  probably never had a stable life, especially not at school, where people would mock him for it. so he grew very wary and distant to the people around him except his father and close friends,

so when nightmare appeared in ccino’s life, cc was LIVID. he didn’t want anyone to hurt his father like he was in the past, and even if ccino was oblivious to it, cc could clearly see that nightmare was crushing on the barista.

the fact that nightmare was into a gang only made it worse for him, and cc even expressed his hatred towards every man and women who ever came into his father life to only ruin it further, and specifically told the other to be wary of the way he treated his father

but after some time he’ll eventually come to the conclusion that his father’s life had been improved ever since night had came into his life, and so he admitted that he was okay with nightmare’s presence as long as he knew what he was getting himself into.

they will have some shenanigans where the two of them befriend each other but my hands are tired and i can’t draw that for now ;)))

Id say that you basically nailed Coffeecreamer. His design is perfect! 😍I love it so much! It's even better then I hoped. And you're headcannons are basically all completely accurate. I love it.

I've been thinking about this idea again

And I was wondering, if I where to do something with it what should the reborn dream and nightmare be named? Because after atlest 4 rebirths (probably more) their names wouldn't be dream and nightmare any more.

I've just been calling them Dark and Light in my head, but do you guys have any better ideas

So.

You dont have to listen to me or anything, but. Usually what I do if the default names I say seem boring (not to say Dark and Light wont work, but they are a bit...bland. no offence.) is I'd look up what those names are in different languages.

For example, I searched up how you would say Dark in different languages and the one that caught my eye the most was Icelandic - Myrkur. Pretty, right? Or might just be me. And then, to keep it together, I searched up light in different languages and went to the same website, looked for the Icelandic one again, which is Ljós.

This way, you keep your original idea, only you've added spice to them.

Of course, I would make sure that that is how you would say those words in that language if you decide to listen to me. Which, again, you dont have to. I...I just honestly thought I'd be good to give my opinion for once.

Hmmmm not a bad idea! Translating words into other languages could work.

I just want to make sure not to over complicate it since original dream and nightmare are just called dream and nightmare.

I'm mostly looking for two opposites associated with dark and light
