Theres gotta be a reason the only two ppl who call Din "Din" in regular interactions with him are Fennec and Bo-Katan. I havent figured out the reason yet but there has to be one bc both his close friends (who know his name) and strangers only call him "Mando"
Im so down for QPR dinbo but what are the chances that would happen without the audience assuming its romantic?
Me last year: haha imagine din and bo having to get married since he doesnt want the throne and she has lost her support for it
Me now (s3e4): that was a fun scenario to think about and it still is but now that they get along im worried its actually gonna happen and theyll throw a romance plot in which i do NOT want bc i enjoy this show having no romance
Caught up on mando and now i have to explain bo's entire backstory to my mom so i made a super basic chart 😅
Me: okay its time to move on. Ive been bouncing back between tbobf and the mandalorian fandoms for 3 weeks now its time for some variety

Me, remembering last episode (s3ep2):
👀
My brain wont stop thinking about royalty aus so lets play around with star wars for a bit
So like either full royalty au or like instead of the empire the republic collapsed and Naboo turned into a lifetime-rule monarchy where they elected Padme to be their first lifelong queen
So theres Queen Amidala, her consort the disgraced jedi knight and beloved war hero Anakin Skywalker, and their twin children Luke Naberrie and Leia Naberrie
Its both hilarious and sad how Din never introduces himself
Hilarious because no one actually knows his name
Sad because most people dont even bother asking him his name
since Din had to make his own clan does that mean he was never given a buir???
Is there anything more mandalorian then a gesture of affection having started off as fighting move (keldabe kiss/headbutt)
So does Din not paint his (new) armor because he doesnt want to? Or does he keep it clean because gray is the color of mourning and he's grieving the fallen members of his covert?
Watching tbobf events go down from a outsider's perspective is like the new but unclaimed Mandalorian High King has allied himself with recently deceased famous bounty hunter Boba Fett and Fennec Shand and helped them overthrow and cement Fett's rule over Mos Espa and practically all of Tatooine as a unofficial ruler, which must be the Mand'alor's first move in placing allies in positions to support him when he makes a grab for the metaphorical throne. But we have their personal perspectives which is sad single dad who mustve never paid attention in history class because he never has any clue whats going on just dropped his child off at boarding school and also his house blew up and his family disowned him on top of accidentally acquiring a half-haunted sword that people are willing to kill him for which is why hes sad so to lay low he moved in with his new but quickly becoming close friends who also have no idea what they're doing and are faking it till they make it but they happen to be starting a actual war just to get revenge on some drug dealers
Me originally: noooo why did they give him the darksaber this plot is gonna be him running around trying to get rid of it and boring in general just let him fly around space with his child
Me who now has a ton of questions on mando culture: actually if din does become mand'alor (which i no longer think is a bad idea) we would actually get to see some mandalorians consistently in this show as well as see the different mando cultures within the greater population from ideals to armor styles and-
Here have this dinfeld idea i cant get out of my head despite me not having seen s2 in over a year
- So its post season 2 finale but some slight changes: they didnt leave Mayfeld on Morrak, Luke didnt show up for Grogu, and idk what to do with the darksaber so im just not going to address it
- So everyone's flying "home". Bo-Katan and Koska took the cruiser with them and everyone else is on Boba's ship
- And it takes a few days to get to wherever their destination is (Tatooine?). Everyone (cough Din cough) is recovering. And Mayfeld watches everyone else vaguely resemble a family
- Now no one (still) wants to answer any of Mayfeld's questions, so he doesnt actually know this is the first time this crew has ever run together. The big difference from Mayfeld's last crew is #1 everyone is actually respecting one other
(well, now that Bo-Katan is gone)and #2 that its pretty quiet - The most anyone really talks is when they all play sabacc
- So Mayfeld watches these interactions. Fennec and Cara cleaning their equipment together. Boba and Din saying the occasional thing in Mando'a. Fennec and Boba's silent communication and the way Din and Cara can exist in each other's space comfortably. And, of course, how everyone takes turns entertaining or caring for Grogu.
- Mayfeld interacts with Grogu too. What is he supposed to do, ignore a baby? What if he starts crying?
- Mayfeld breaks the silence with questions. Most go ignored. Most of it is mundane chatter, he does ask why does Boba take his helmet off but Mando cant, and he pokes fun at Cara and Din's "relationship"
- Mayfeld figures out they arent dating but that doesnt stop him. He makes comments about their sex life and how Cara is Grogu's mom and yadda yadda
- He's watching them one day in the cockpit. Cara is reclining and dosing off in one of the chairs, Grogu asleep on her chest. Din comes up, dressed in a combination of his flight suit and bandages, and sits next to her. And what happens is so domestic. Din looks at them for a minute (and Mayfeld tries not to imagine his face, a face Mayfeld now knows, looking fond) before touching Cara's shoulder. She makes a sleepy noise, turns towards him, and they have a quiet conversation (like parents). Eventually Din takes Grogu, and Cara stands up. Din has his hand on her back as he steers her towards the ladder. And Mayfeld feels his black heart shrivel up. Because they may not be a couple, but they're gonna be
He's wrong obviously but the angst- Eventually Mayfeld's trip through slow social torture ends when they finally dock. Turns out they're dropping Cara (and carbonite Gideon) off. It was decided that they wont send Mayfeld back to prison, as a thank you. Cara will have it put into the system that he died on Morak. So the plan is to drop Cara off, and everyone else is going to Tatooine; for Din to help Boba and Fennec with a "job" and for Mayfeld to either find a life in the desert or catch his own ride off planet
- Theres a goodbye of course. Cara grasps forearms with Boba, shakes hands with Fennec, tells Grogu to be good for his dad, and hugs Din before they tap "foreheads" (Cara's forehead, Din's helmet)
- They make it to Tatooine in the next day or so
- Now either Mayfeld fades into Tatooine's background: becoming a bounty hunter or another criminal type or he ends up in a village as remote and off the maps as Mos Pelgo is
- But he hears Fett took over Mos Espa. Maybe he hears Fett is looking for henchmen, and thinks he wouldnt be a horrible guy to work for
and maybe he can get the chance to see Mando again... - Anyways his path eventually crosses with Din's again, either through Fett's group or during/the aftermath of one of the Pyke battle(s)
Maybe Grogu is there maybe he's with Luke. I havent thought this far yet im winging it now- And now Mayfeld flirts all the time with him
- Din is dying inside that helmet
- Mayfeld tries not to give himself hope but he's not wasting a chance
- Boba and Fennec are (unofficial) partners and that includes wingmaning/torturing their good friend Din. Mayfeld soon finds him and Mando getting paired up a lot
- ???? Then Cobb comes out of the tank?? And Cobb flirts with Mando. Mando doesnt stop him. Worse even, Mando is attempting to be friends with him in his awkward way. And apparently, him and Cobb have "history"
- History involves Cobb having his village volunteered without his permission to work with their long time enemies to kill a unkillable dragon who Mando then personally exploded. Cobb might let Mayfeld assume they've got more than that though
- Ummmmmmm Din is the one to take Cobb back home to
Mos PelgoFreetown, says he's gotta see a mechanic in Mos Eisley and thats on the way so he'll be back tomorrow night - Mayfeld gets drunk at the bar in the throne room. Employees get 40% off and he's using it. Mayfeld is sitting there spiraling about how Din was actually single but the story about the mechanic has to be a cover up (and oh gods was that Mando's way of being considerate of Mayfeld's feelings?) because he's gonna sleep with Cobb and then he wont be single anymore. Fett attempts to comfort him he thinks? He remembers that Fett showed up at one point and sat next to him and then for some reason (something about Cobb and armor) he started imaging Din with a mando spouse and yeah he woke up pretty hungover. That makes him feel extra pathetic
- Din shows up in his new fancy remodeled Naboo Starfighter to show off to Boba and Fennec and Mayfeld. Mayfeld finds out he's been working with someone named Peli to fix it up for the last month. Mayfeld realizes Din was actually with a mechanic yesterday.
- Hungover and sunburnt Mayfeld decides to make his move right there in the hot suns
Later Din asks why, since Mayfeld hated the fact he wouldnt show his face before he actually saw it and always makes helmet comments when insulting Din's sex life
I dont think we'll get Ezra in The Mandalorian but all the wildest theories for this show have him 😂. Ezra is the "rightful" ruler of Mandalore because Maul's apprentice is basically Maul's next-of-kin, Grogu left Luke because he's destined to be Ezra's padawan, only Ezra would call Grogu "Baby Yoda", etc

I have so many questions on mando marriage but right now im only gonna ask this: mandos can marry non-mandos and said non-mandos can remain non-mandos*, but do they receive anything that marks them of belonging to their clan/as a mando spouse?
*im pretty sure. I know part of the code is you have to raise your children to be mandos but i dont remember anything about your spouse converting
Im a personal fan of the non-mando spouses (or honorary non-mando members) receiving necklaces with beskar pendants of the clan animal/mascot, but i dont know if thats considered a valid use of rare beskar. Read one fic where they got the clan signet put on their already existing non-beskar armor and that was a pretty cool idea. But as far as i know theres no actual canon answer to this (if you know leave a reply!)
Three questions
1. If the word for parent is "buir" how do children differentiate between their parents? Like are both parents called "buir" and they just know which one their child is calling for?
2. I know Mando'a doesnt have gender pronouns, but it does have words to specify gender when its needed ("jagyc" = male, "dalyc" = female). But how do you use this properly? The only example i could find was "ke barjurir gar'ade, jagyc'ade kot'la a dalyc'ade kotla'shya" and here they just put the adj in front of and a part of the original word (jagyc'ade = sons, dalyc'ade = daughters), so would it always work that way? Like if you wanted to specify sisters would "vode" become "dalyc'vode"?
3. Does "riduur" just mean marriage partner? Or does it mean any version of "partner"? Also ori'vod can mean special friend, so does that mean "best friend" or like "girlfriend/boyfriend" or something else?
