I FINALLY see the similarities between Eros & Psyche and Beauty & the Beast and its because those details are literally left out of the movie and therefore pop culture

My personal estimates on what time period the Disney Princesses are from (if they all took place in our world)
When you wanna draw but you cant freaking draw bc you're wearing a eye patch and your other eye cant handle doing all the work
When you wanna write a little but you cant bc you're wearing a eye patch and your other eye cant handle doing all the work
When you wanna check out sonic prime but you cant bc you're wearing a eye patch and-
currently calculating disney princess' birthdays bc i cant freaking do anything
EDIT: births and lifespans so far
*Elsa and Anna are the only confirmed day and year birth dates
Update: almost done!
Me: im gonna try and figure out the disney princess birth years, maybe make a colorful timeline. Im bored and that sounds fun
Me, three days later: ive only got two more princesses to go and ive just spent 20 minutes looking for end dates on the Long Pause. I am going to cry.
I just spent half a day researching EoA's formal dress and Isabel's inventions AND THIS ENTIRE TIME ALL I HAD TO DO WAS GOOGLE "when does sofia the first take place" !?!?!
I got the same answer (yay!) but im still mad about it 😤

Looked up disney princess timelines bc i was curious if any coexisted (i know they're all fairytale worlds but shhhh) and im currently reeling from the fact Mulan and Brave are set at the same time
*all movies vary bc there is no set timeline. Arguably Mulan is the one with the most possible dates
All i can think about is that one person on my dash who reblogged 3 posts from OUAT shipping them in like 2016 and then vanished
Movies that took place around the same time:
- Mulan and Brave (800s)
- Cinderella and Frozen (mid 1800s)
Movies where their lifetimes may have overlapped:
- Sleeping Beauty (late 1300s) and Aladdin (1400s)
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (early 1500s) and Tangled (1500s)
- Pocahontas (1607) and The Little Mermaid (late 1600s)
- Beauty and the Beast (mid 1700s or possibly even 1790-1810ish) and Cinderella & Frozen (mid 1800s)
- Cinderella & Frozen (mid 1800s) and Princess and the Frog (1926)
*again, timelines vary and some movies can be considered happening in another century entirely
Y'all can ignore this but imma pair up gifs just to blow my mind further
EDIT: decided to do the whole timeline so i threw in Moana

Estimated Time Periods and Locations of the Disney Princess Films
Well, this has certainly been a long time coming. But I’m back, and armed with more substantial knowledge + actual evidence this go-around; I won’t, however, be doing Pocahontas, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, or Frozen, the former two because their time periods and locations are clearly stated in the film itself (1607 in England/colonial Virginia and 1926 in New Orleans, respectively) and the latter two because I fully endorse findingcorona/findingarendelle’s analysis. I’ll also being using “findingdisney” as the tag for this little project out of respect for their work. Feel free to debate me, but I ask that if you’re going to counter my claims, you at least put in the time I have in researching this, instead of just parroting a Buzzfeed article or something.
Edit: I’ve changed my mind about fully endorsing findingcorona’s analysis, specifically regarding when Tangled takes place. I think Satiricalifragilistic’s analysis is spot-on, and the 16th century works better for Corona as fairy tale Poland anyway since not only are the partitions a couple centuries off, but Poland is experiencing its Golden Age!
1/3 of the way there!
Ive decided for the sake of my sanity my personal explanation for why Prince Eric and the Beast are princes and not kings are because Eric is the prince of a principality (Sovereign Prince) and Beast was Prince Regent of his kingdom, and he was never crowned king because he was cursed before his coronation, and then for obvious reasons there was no reason to go through with a coronation, making him still a prince at the time of Belle's story
Been thinking about disney princess AUs recently and what would their majors be in a college AU?
The only ones i can figure out are
- Ariel = Anthropology
- Belle = Literature
- Tiana = culinary school not college
- Rapunzel = Art
- Elsa = Business
- Moana = Earth Science, concentration in Marine Science (oceanography)
But that still leaves Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Merida, and Anna without majors
What would you pick for them?
So for this year's Aggressively Arospec Week i decided to take all the Disney Princesses and reimagine them as aro-spec! I have them listed in reverse order of release so feel free to scroll to your fav
(I havent seen some of these movies since i was little so some parts may be inaccurate)
The newest Disney Princess is Moana! Her movie is my favorite and i have always seen her as aro-ace!
Did you know Anna and Elsa actually arent Disney Princesses? Well im including them anyways. Ive reimagined Anna as recipromantic! She wants love and romance but doesnt actually feel it until Han and Kristoff showed clear interest in her. Being overflowed with these emotions for the first time combined with Hans "feeling" the same way plus growing up on stories of True Love she quickly jumps on the marriage bandwagon. Its true love Elsa! You cant understand Kristoff! After finding out Hans never loved her her feelings end and are replaced by the heavy feeling of betrayal. She then goes slightly more carefully with her relationship with Kristoff. Elsa however is aro, and love was never even a option until after movie one. We hear from Hans that she turns every man down, but it is a mixture of fear from her powers and intense uncomfortableness she felt/feels.
Crown Princess Elena! Many people dont know her as she is a TV series princess. She was my favorite before Moana came out. Elena is aro-ace! She has many admirers but their actions and words fly right over her head, and the more pushy ones make her down right uncomfortable. She loves (and i mean overflowing with love) her family and her subjects and is always working to rebuild and better the kingdom. After her brief transition period of Crown Princess she is set to become Queen.
Merida! Shes aro-ace. I dont think anyone real needs a description explaining why considering her movie was about her rejecting marriage and repairing her relationship with her mom. Being a arrow ace doesnt hurt either.
Rapunzel is demi! During her journey with Flynn she creates her first relationship outside her mother and Pascal. She and Flynn have to trust and rely on one another and grow close by the time they arrive in Corona. At this point she is romantically attracted to Flynn.
(This was the only good gif of her sorry) Tiana is also demi! The only woman not whooed by Naveen's charm who slowly falls for him after going through a life changing journey together... sounds pretty demi to me
Mulan is gray! Out of all those naked men the only one that didnt make her recoil, who she also had a hard time averting her eyes from, was Shang. AKA the only man she was attracted to was Shang in a sea of men.
Pocahontas is also gray! She didnt want to marry the man her father picked out, but she also never volunteered a man of her own. She seemingly "randomly" falls in love when seeing John for the first time.
Ive reimagined Jasmine as apresromantic! She genuinely cares for Aladdin as a person, and then cares for him romantically after meeting him again.
Belle is aro! She cares for and loves the Beast platonically. The Beast is in love with her, and they go into their marriage happily despite Belle's affection coming from a slightly different place. Also her getting married helps avoid a whole another Gastón problem plus she gets to keep living in a giant library.
IVE HIT MY IMAGE LIMIT SO IM PUTTING THE REST IN THE REBLOGS
Ariel is gray! She experiences feelings for the first time and goes a little overboard with her actions.
Im reimagining Aurora/Briar Rose as frayromantic! Evidence: Phillip is a stranger and really really likes him.
Cinderella is aro! She sneaks out to go to a party, meets a guy whos being forced to get married because he refuses to find his own wife (also a very aro thing) and takes the chance to live with her new friend instead of her abusive step-family.
Snow White as reciporomantic! She wakes up to someone who says he likes her and asks her out, and she quickly becomes infatuated with him.
