So for the last 4 years ive been recording all the RWBY character allusions that i saw floating around on here and built myself a masterlist

Hope the pictures are clear enough to read. My favorite part about RWBY was always the allusions, so here they are organized alphabetically and color coded by RWBY character

Ignore the asterisks they were for personal reference but heres the list! All 200+ allusions that have been speculated and/or confirmed over the years

So some stuff has come up and i dont think i'll personally be able to finish RWBY March. But ive been building a headcanon list for a while, so i guess now's the perfect time to share it!

General (main cast)

  • Nora refers to JR/JRO as "the boys" (canon?) but to RWBY as "RWBY" (canon?)
  • Pyrrha was insecure about her height (6'). The only one who knew was Nora. Nora's not insecure about her height (5'1") she's just mad at it
  • Weiss is also mad at her height. And Yang used to be insecure about hers in middle school
  • Everyone has carried Nora at least once. Whether because they wanted to or she forced them or they had to drag her out of something
  • Salem is colorblind (either by birth or by Grimm Pond dive)
  • Blake once licked her whole hand and then used that hand to push Ruby's hair back. No one will let her live that down
  • Sun likes to play with other peoples hair and clothes and gets really happy when they do it back (grooming is a important social aspect for primates). This behavior makes people think he's dating either Blake (who gets it) or Neptune (who's used to it and just lets him do what he wants)
  • At Beacon Blake wouldnt let anyone touch her hair out of fear they would move her ribbon or they would notice her cat ears. She actually really likes brushing or braiding her own or other people's hair
  • Pyrrha has a scar on her neck. Thats why she's always covering it. She always admired Weiss for walking around with hers on full display
  • Blake hung out with Sun and Neptune a lot in V2/V3. Thats why she knew Neptune was afraid of water
  • Emerald has never kissed anyone
  • Mercury went to school
  • Mercury was always a quiet kid. When he was talkative it was because he was having fun or being mean
  • Emerald dresses the (almost) exact way that Yang does but if anyone drew the same first conclusions about her that she did about Yang she would be very upset
  • Salem stopped going by "Princess Salem" after her rescue, only bringing it up if it would help a situation her and Ozma were in. She started somewhat going by it again when she was recruiting her army. She didnt go by "princess" again but she did go by "queen" and "goddess" after her false god stint

Faunus in General

Bc they need more animal characteristics outside 1 physical trait and goodish night vision

  • Faunus senses are a lot stronger than humans (other than sight*, which is equal to or less) *its canon they have night vision, so this is in regards to normal daytime 20/20 sight
  • Most faunus' can smell other faunus, down to the species-type (is there a word for that?)
  • Theres an old wives tale that the more human DNA you have, the weaker the strength of your senses are
  • Faunus who marry other faunus tend to end up with a spouse of the same or similar species-type. (Theres no socialital push its just statistics. Like how ppl tend to marry other ppl from the same backgrounds or class as them)
  • Depending on the species-type, some faunus have internal characteristics that allow them to: growl/howl (vocalcords/voicebox), have a higher bite force (jaw muscles), etc
  • There are stereotypes surrounding species-types. Cat-types like fish, primate-types will go through your stuff, rodent-types are short, that faunus who resemble solitary animals avoid social situations, etc
  • There are ridiculous rumors that faunus have a mating season/go into heat and that they lay eggs instead of giving birth
  • Perfumes and other scented things created and used by faunus are made differently, since their sense of smell is so strong. Walking into a human mall can be very disorienting because of the strength of human perfumes/candles
  • Animals were named after the types of faunus, not the faunus after the animal

STRQ

  • The partners were Summer x Taiyang and Raven x Qrow
  • Raven is also a alcoholic
  • Raven and Qrow started drinking at a young age and drank fairly often at Beacon (Tai wasnt complaining then but he complains now)
  • Both of them became functioning alcoholics well before anything truly bad happened (ex. Summer's death or Raven's exile)
  • Everyone has tattoos
  • STRQ has one matching tattoo, they were all suppose to get partner tattoos but instead only Summer and Tai got them while Raven and Qrow got completely different tattoos (they're already twins and will already be tied together for the rest of their lives by Raven's semblance. Plus they'd never agree on one)
  • Raven has a portal to Ruby
  • Tai married Qrow first while they were in the Remnant version of Las Vegas for a mission. They were drunk and thought it would be a hilarious thing to lord over Raven. And it was ("i shouldve stayed married to Qrow", "hey, Tai put a ring on my finger before he ever put one on yours!", "you see, my sister married my ex-husband, which means she was the second choice", "well, for your information, i have married every member of my team")

Friendship Day 1:

I love so many friendships in this show but i gotta say these two's is so great. I said earlier id talk more about why Sun was a fantastic friend, and here it is:

Sun and Blake really looked at each other 1 (one) time and then spent two days together. Two days where Blake hardly talked at all. THE DEDICATION they both had lol. Blake didnt want to be alone and Sun saw she needed a friend. I wonder what they did between the dock fight and the Fall. She knew Neptune was scared of water, so she must've been hanging out with them. And then the Fall happens and last we see Sun is there with the injured, protecting Blake, Yang, Ren, and Nora. We know Blake bolted when help came. Sun left his team (which was not the best friendship move with them...) because he knew Blake was not okay. Blake is upset Sun followed her, but you can tell in Menagerie she's happy to have him with her. And when they get to Haven they watch each other's backs. Then when they say goodbye at the train station Blake was so sure Sun was coming with her, and she was sad he wasnt. Because now that Blake is okay he has to go take care of his team.

I have a headcanon they picked up matching friendship bracelets/best friend necklaces when they were walking around Kuo Kuana

Since fandom activity is in a kinda lull at the moment and we still dont have the V9 release date, im THINKING (its not a thing yet) about trying to do some type of RWBY Month. To have some fun and maybe get us excited about V9

I wanna make it a month, so people can pick and choose which prompts they want to work with and not feel pressured to do all 7 or 14 if it was a week or two

Im thinking about holding it in March, because that would give us all of February (at the time of posting it is Feb 2nd) to spread the news and prepare our works/posts

I wanted to make it as inclusive as possible, so people who feel like they dont have art skill, writing skill, etc can participate with a simple post screaming about their fav character or posting a headcanon they've had for a while. So these are the current prompts im looking at:

(You can ignore the color coding, that was just to help me organize it. When i post the official, i'll also have examples of ideas for each prompt to help people come up with ideas)

(also is V6 considered part of Mistral/Haven Arc or the Atlas Arc?)

So let me know if 1) you would be interested in participating or simply viewing this event (im trying to get a idea of how many people would be interested) by liking or dropping a reply. Cant believe its been a whole year since we all got together for JanuRWBY. That was a lot of fun. Since we still dont have V9 release date we should do something like that again.

I dont know who originally created it, but out of curiosity who else would be interested in participating/looking at another event like that?????

Ok i think ive FINALLY come up with a ship name for Blake x Sun x Neptune: Nautical Twilight

"Nautical Twilight" was a term created by sailors and is used in throughout the navy, military, and other organizations today.

Nautical = Neptune

"Nautical" meaning "of or concerning sailors, navigation, or maritime".

Twilight = Blake + Sun

"Twilight" (meaning "two-light") is the times of day between night and day, coming before dawn and after dusk.

The wiki: Kali Belladonna maybe be a allusion to Mother Wolf from The Jungle Book

Me: well that cant be true. She's a cat faunus

Me: *spends way to much time looking at the differences between Kali and Blake's ears during my V4 rewatch*

Google: Raksha, or Mother Wolf, is a Indian Wolf

Me, on Google Images: omg Kali's ears are almost a perfect match to Indian Wolf ears

Her ears are much larger and much rounder at the base then Blake's ears are. And they're too wide to be panther ears

And Blake definitely has domestic cat ears

...do we know Kali is a cat faunus??? Has it been confirmed?? Is Blake actually half cat half wolf? Three quarters cat and one quarter wolf? Is Kali her stepmom? Is Kali just based on a cat thats not black? I know you can find big ears like hers on desert cats

Seen a lot of people talking about her dad in the tags

Back when i first watched this my brother said Ghira and Sienna were based on the The Jungle Book, which the wikis also say. So we figured mixed with the retractable claws and the cat roars Ghira has to be Bagheera and therefore a panther (black leopard to be exact) faunus

Which would correspond with Sienna Khan, a tiger faunus, being Shere Khan the tiger, and their rivalry/animosity with each other matches up

Ghira is also huge and incredibly strong, which weve seen some normal characters have (Nora, Hazel) so this might not apply, but he's huge and quite literally built like a bear, so im also wondering if he's supposed to be a mixture of Bagheera the panther and Baloo the bear

Also a lot of people are saying the faunus trait genetics are random, which i had no idea about. That makes me feel a lot better about Kali being a wolf if she is a wolf faunus. Because i was under the impression they were a cat family

A lot of people are saying "it makes sense for Kali to be based on Mowgli's other parental figure" but guys, The Jungle Book is all about adoption. Mowgli has something like 7 adoptive parents

  • Raksha (Wolf Mom)
  • Rama (Wolf Dad)
  • Bagheera (Panther, Mentor/Father Figure)
  • Baloo (Bear, Mentor/Father Figure)
  • Kaa (Python, Mentor/Father Figure)
  • Messua (Human, Adoptive Mother)
  • Messua's Husband (Human, Adoptive Father)

And thats assuming Blake is supposed to be Mowgli is the first place (Ilia could easily be Mowgli, and ive seen people say Adam is Mowgli/the Red Flower since he killed Sienna)

Rewatching V5 and Ghira growls (confirming my theory that faunus can) and now i NEED to see some more characters make their animal noises. Blake also growling, fantastic. Little Blake trying to growl but it comes out as mewing, even better. Purring Blake, brilliant, i must know if she's embarrassed by it or not. Blake hissing, also great. Marrow getting fed up and and doing that quiet build up growl dogs do, YES. Sun doing whooping noises or calls to get peoples attention, very in character if i do say so.
