Superman and Wonder Woman is my one true pairing and they would never fight each other for douchey reasons. In comics it’s usually against their will or Clark is mind controlled etc but all the Batman v Superman debates have me like eh, really? A better throwdown to see would be these two. Fact, part of me is kind of hoping we see it in the DCEU, even if it its them sparring . They can kiss and make up after.

Just had to put them together! I can’t wait to see their first meeting on screen.

Here’s another reason why I love Superman and Wonder Woman together. Yes, I love that they share similar goals, have a beautiful bond of friendship and can offer each other unique perspectives because of who they are. Some people might think he’s Superman. He’s near perfect . He’s got nothing much to learn hero-wise. Everyone has things to learn, no matter where they are in life and he is no exception. We know he’s a character that DC likes to claim loves humanity and wants to belong because he was raised as one of us. He was nurtured here by good people and his experiences are with humans everyday from Smallville to Metropolis to the wider world. Superman's love of earth should always be because HE cares for humanity and it’s his own moral code that makes him the hero. No one thing or person can do that. However. Clark is not just a guy who can get away with just being human or normal because he is not like you and I, no matter how much he might want to be and then ...yes...Uncle Ben got it right...with great power comes great responsibility. He chose to wear the cape. To stand for something. He also has a heritage. Ignoring that is like ignoring the people who sacrificed themselves to preserve his life. Anyone ignoring his/her ancestry or heritage just to fit in, is ignoring a facet of your self. You must know where you came from to figure out where you are going. That must be part of Clark/Kal’s journey. He must be able to reconcile both sides of himself.
There is the side that is supposed to lead, to be inspirational, to offer solutions...not just save and hide behind glasses indefinitely. Saving for someone like him is easy because he physically can. But dealing with the world and multitude of people across various divides of culture, religion, race, ...that to me, is the greater test of a Superman. That is the actual work. Not many stories have addressed those issues unless Elseworlds like Kingdom Come. Superman was always set in amber, ie fighting typical baddies, living a double life, dating Lois, eternally in his 30ties...a very black and white sort of setting that imo glosses over a lot of things from his longevity to ethical issues, and his place in an advancing world so DC could maintain the status quo. But after a while those recycled tropes feel flat and lacking any resonance. What I love about the stories where he is written with Diana...he gets to go past traditional hurdles, get asked hard questions...deal with ethical, political, philosophical issues...the gray areas. And more often than not, SHE is there as a character ( examining her one can see she is more about truth than he is) that poses those questions for him to ponder.
From old canon to Kingdom Come to the new 52, Diana has never played just the doting girlfriend/best friend where Clark is concerned. Those who say that are being disingenuous. She’s way too honest and emotionally strong and smart for that. She is his equal in every way and shares burdens he does. Out of all the love interests Clark has ever had, Diana is often the one who tries to get him to embrace the truth and inspiration that comes with being who he is. She’s made tough decisions that has even put their relationship at risk because she never lets her duty get clouded by blind loyalty or love. She and Clark have often butt heads philosophically and at times still do things differently but it is why they are so good together and for each other. She is not there to just cheer-lead him or pat his head when there is work to be done. She will stand shoulder to shoulder with him, watch his back, give him a kick up the ass if she has to. She does not need him. Not to save her, nor to define her own goodness or who she is as a woman. But she does love, respect and admire him as a man and a hero.
And no matter the universe be it Diana to Clark, Nubia to Cal or Bekka to Hernan...Wonder Woman always reflects the truth to Superman.

“A man with dreams needs a woman with vision. Her perspective, faith and support will change his reality. If she does not challenge you, then she is no good for you.”
Not just Superman’s girlfriend or mere love interest. Diana is Clark’s partner, his equal, his comrade in arms, his ally, his lover, his friend, his protector, and his mirror of truth.
