I want to clarify right away - I'm talking about the endings of Sangvia, not Astarion!!! I think of Sangvia as a possible companion in the game, so she has a personal quest and multiple endings. And in the bad ending, she is subjected to madness by Bhaal and to avoid this, Lord Astarion decides to make her his spawn to control. Yes, she is still a cute bat that the Lord likes to play with, but behind the scenes he is afraid of losing to Bhaal in the battle for Sangvia's mind.
