I love Fantomah with all my heart
I bought this from a surplus store years ago. (Currently on eBay.)
Notice anything odd about these figures?
Hint: look at their hands.
Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. As ponies.
So a long time ago I promised to tell you how I ended up with thirteen of the 2007 SDCC pony.
She was the second ever Comic-Con pony and much more exciting than the first one, which was plain white with creepy hearts as eyes. Look at this pony. She's ELABORATE. She's a freaking SUPERHERO. She was also the first truly red pony.
I wasn't at SDCC, but Hasbro put its surplus exclusives on its website. Not just the pony, but also Transformers exclusives, G.I.Joe, etc. You could order a maximum of two ponies.
You can imagine what happened when all these fandoms swarmed HasbroToyshop.com . The site crashed. Continually. I was at work at the time, frantically trying to get to the order screen. Sometimes it would crash before I put my credit card info in, sometimes after. I tried ordering two ponies. I tried ordering one pony. I tried and tried and TRIED to order that pony. I swear I went through this process thirty or forty times. FINALLY I got to a confirmation screen. Checked my email and there was a confirmation email there. Hallelujah!!
A couple days later I took another look at my email and OMG THEY CANCELLED MY ORDER!!! I contacted Hasbro customer support via chat window, ready to cry tears of blood.
Yes, the sympathetic customer service rep said, one of my orders had been cancelled due to a credit card error. But the other eight orders had already been sent, wasn't that nice?
Wait. Other eight orders?
All those payments that didn't go through? Some of them went through. (Though I never received a confirmation email about them!) And as Hasbro had ALREADY SENT THEM, the orders couldn't be cancelled.
A few days later a huge stack of boxes arrived on my doorstep. I've got to hand it to Hasbro--I'd paid individual shipping for those ponies, so they came in small individual boxes.
Since I'd ordered one pony in some orders and two ponies in other orders, I ended up with thirteen SDCC ponies. I could've returned them but, c'mon, what a great story.
Ready for the actual pony?
My Little Pony Of the Day - 5-3-13 MIB Friday
This is one of the unnamed SDCC Comic-Con ponies. It’s the second in a theme of superheroes that served as the original SDCC exclusives. She is also one of a very small number of G3 molds made with a black base
One thing I really like about the early SDCC ponies is that well, they look like comic superheroes. Later ones tended to be somewhat random, with the most recent being Derpy Hooves (which I do like but… these are better).
Country of Origin: SDCC Exclusive Rarity: Not too rare Price: Not expensive. Known For: Black pony, superhero themed
SDCC Ponies (by pullip_junk)
Yeeeeees.
(To be clear, these are past SDCC ponies. I expect the next SDCC pony will be another G4 background pony, which I frankly find disappointing. MOAR SUPERHEROES, DAMN IT!! I guess there's a chance they might make Mare-Do-Well, but I can't seriously see Hasbro bothering to make a cape and hat.)
