Forty - When no one was looking, Lex Luthor took forty cakes. he took 40 cakes. That's as many as four tens. And that's terrible.
i think those super dictionaries are actually meant for people learning english as a second language? i could be wrong, but i'm a huge language acquisition nerd and the super dictionary style method is actually a really effective language teaching method! i don't think it's particularly common for teaching actual children their first language, though
That would be a very practical use for it! But I don't think it was the intent. Imo it was definitely put together with an English-speaking audience in mind.
Through - Catwoman left the building through the front door. She left by way of the front door. She was through with her work for the day. She was finished with her work. She had been bad through the whole day. Catwoman had been bad from the beginning of the day to the end.
Everybody knows about the “Forty” entry. Nobody seems to have considered that the other numbers would be just as ridiculous.
Seriously WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE
Hey friends! It’s COMICS TRIVIA TIME!
Question: What is the story behind the “Wanna make something of it?” cover of G4 My Little Pony comic #10?
Answer: It is a homage to the very well-known comic book cover of the 80s series “Justice League International”! (Well, actually the book was just called “Justice League” at that point, but let’s not nitpick.)
In an era when comic books were increasingly grimdark, Justice League International was light-hearted, not afraid to explore relationships and emotions of superheroes rather than just “punch bam zowie”, and was just plain funny. In other words it has a lot in common with G4 MLP!
Most of the characters were second-stringers (i.e. not well-known like the Flash or Superman), aside from Batman. So the further homage/joke with the MLP cover is that the ponies on it are all background ponies. Wanna make somethin’ of it?
I’ve also included a recent Transformers comic cover, just because I like it and to show that this cover has been homaged a hundred thousand times, seriously.
Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. As ponies.
