What is this about the tumblr staff wanting to sell art data to midjourney?
An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:
So I don't have any extra info yet, but I'm keeping my ears open.
And I just got confirmation from a second ex-colleague that a deal with midjourney has been brewing since months ago. Not any extra details, just that's a real thing.
Shit, I don't see any way for this to happen that doesn't make it an apocalyptic event the size of the porn ban. Fuck.
Shit. This may be pure chance and coincidence, and it's not he is in a position to be able to talk about anything, but seeing prominent staff members announcing they are moving their original photography out of tumblr just two weeks ago seems a pretty significant cue of shit to be about to hit the fan.
Just tested. It’s possible to swap out pictures on already-published posts. So in that case, a solution:
This will not only protect your art, but has the opportunity to fuck over this deal on a pretty large scale. The more of these posts that are glazed or poisoned, the less valuable this deal becomes for tumblr and midjourney.
Share this with everyone. And i do mean everyone.

As intriguing as Daemon Targaryen undoubtedly is, Matt’s performance as the 11th Doctor is the one that will always have my heart.

A wee glimpse at my process…
Thank you @bufftat-junkie and everyone who got me to 10000 reblogs!
In the earliest days of the pandemic, when there seemed like no end in sight, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires were one of my greatest comforts. Sitting an entire ocean away, in a very different time zone, we would stay up into the small hours of the morning to watch their 'I So Lounging' livestream and hear every beautiful song.
I was already a fan, but those nights fixed them both in my heart as something to treasure.
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit have a new album out, called Weathervanes, and it's pretty damn special, I recommend giving it a listen if you can.

Please accept this suuuper belated May the Fourth Be With You post, since I was away last week and didn’t have a chance to paint.
Poe and Finn were my favourite part of the sequel trilogy, I hope that someday they’ll get the resolution and character arcs that I think they deserve.

Buffy and Spike. 20+ years later and they still break my heart.
I’ve been really struggling with art block lately, but when I went searching for “Spike & Buffy” reference I couldn’t resist painting this scene, I just love them both so much.

Any Barry fans out there? It’s one of the best shows on television and doesn’t get a fraction of the love and credit it deserves. I don’t think there’s anything more darkly funny out there. Bill Hader shows that he’s an astonishing actor, crazy talented (he writes, produces and directs) and, it turns out, he’s also really good fun to paint!

Logan f*****g Roy, as played by the brilliant Brian Cox.
Giving no spoilers, I have to say last week’s episode of Succession floored me. It’s now alongside The Last of Us ep.3 as the best TV of the year. Everyone working on the show should be very proud 💜
I’m not sure whether to add this one to my Etsy store. Let me know what you think!

Wishing the happiest of birthdays to the lovely Pedro Pascal!
I’ve spent years telling people how great he is, and I’m so thrilled that he’s finally getting all the recognition he deserves 💜

Looking forward to seeing John Wick 4 in the cinema very soon!

Here’s what I did with a blurry ref picture of Michael in 2.5-ish hours. It’s a pretty nice record of my starting process, I suppose. I’ll continue drawing for sure, though most of the work will be just refining values and sharpness of edges, which is quite painstaking but has little recording value…
And need I mention my admiration for the most inspirational ref model ever more? <3
Happy Valentines my loves!
Just over 12 months ago I started painting for the first time since high school; mostly because I wanted to see if I could do justice to a certain handsome face.
I've painted him many times since then, and lots of other people too, and I'll forever be grateful that he and you reminded me that this is a thing I love to do.
In honour of that, and of all of you and all the love and support you have given me over an otherwise difficult year I painted this little rainbow of a portrait.
Happy Valentines my dears!

Buffy and Angel forever 💙🧡❤️
I was so delighted to be commissioned to paint this piece by the team behind the brilliant Becoming Buffy Podcast to celebrate their 100th episode! Head over to their Instagram (@becomingbuffypodcast) for the chance to win a print, or visit my Etsy store to buy one.
I have room for a handful of commissions over the next couple of months, so please get in touch if you’re interested.

This is INSANELY beautiful. WOW!!
Thank you so much @jbuffyangel ! 🥰❤️
This week's episode left me a sobbing wreck. The most pitch-perfect episode of television, gorgeously acted by the amazing Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett.
I've had Nick on my "to paint" list for a while, although I'd always intended to paint him as the majestic Ron Swanson - one day I promise I'll get round to it!
