While driving home from service i was feeling super cranky but i visualized myself coming home and putting on my running gear. And I did. Even though i didn't feel like it. Music helps.

The first half of the run went pretty good, the second half, the hip started playing up again and the muscles above my hips started cramping. But mentally i am feeling so much better. Glad I went out.

Maybe i should make a new fall/winter survival list.

I think I need to take a break from running 😢. My hip issue is only worsening, especially when running and it's gotten to the point where I'm feeling it all the time, not just during exercise.

I vowed to never get emotional if/when that moment would come (and it may only be temporarily) but even though I never actually got the "I love running when it's over"- T-shirt, I can't really think of any other activity (this cheap and healthy😏) that makes me feel so good...

That mental state of calm. Where finally all the thoughts racing through your mind quiet down and there is only you, in that moment, and the hypnotizing pounding of feet on the pavement.

Any ideas on alternate routes to that runner's high?

Just some thoughts.

I've had 7 Pilates classes, I have 4 more left. I don't always feel like going but when I do, I'm glad I did. The class starts very calmly with gentle warming up exercises, which is very nice. I can tell that some exercises aren't as hard as the first time I went. And what I love love love is that when the weather allows it, the classes are outside! But they are outside of my budget so I'll have to save up for the next 10...

I'm kind of back to eating vegan on weekdays/at home after watching the Eating You Alive Documentary. I feel good eating this way but I should focus on getting in on enough protein (at least 1/2 a cup of beans per day), I forget.

So I usually run on Wednesday mornings but now I have a Pilates class at 9am. It's a 5min bike ride or 15min jog so I'm thinking about running there so I can still get in 2 runs per week. But not sure when I'm going to have breakfast since I have that after running normally...

Here is the plan:

  1. Have a coffee upon waking (like always)
  2. Have a banana before run
  3. Have oat bar at gym before Pilates class (they fit in my running pouch)
  4. Run home, shower and probably eat early lunch 😂

So I followed the plan and it went well! The baked oats resemble a tasteless brick but they work 😂 I still haven't found a recipe that actually makes me excited about eating oats...

I have, however, been getting side stitches/cramped muscles around my hips lately when I start my run. I think I need to warm up better by walking briskly instead of jogging right away. And do some more planks...

I am going to try an experiment. I am going to try and do my runs in the morning!

Even though I always said my body is like a diesel motor and needs time to start up in the morning and it feels better to run in the afternoon, half the time I don't go because it's just a hassle in between appointments with changing and showering. My goal still is to run twice a week and on Monday and Wednesday I have time before service. Tuesdays and Thursdays I walk to work (25 mins one way) and I'm really enjoying it despite it being early. It gives me time to mentally prepare before and wind down after.

The experiment starts tomorrow! Since I'm not planning on running everyday, the steps will be spread out. In this article the science behind training on an empty stomach is clarified.

20th run before breakfast this morning since starting this experiment! 🎉 27 in total and got back on track right away after being a bit sick.

The minimum amount of recommended muscle strengthening exercises is 30 minutes per week.

I have 7 WHOLE DAYS. When do I end up doing it? Saturday evening 11:30 🤓
