“Maybe it’s the fact that I detest this obsession with myself that leaves a mess inside my head.”
Snow Shoes by Magical Mistakes.
There is nothing like some soft acoustic guitar and piano to improve one’s driving experience. A beautiful soundscape to match the lush landscape unfurling before me.

Anna Kendrick | ‘Cups’ (New Radio Version)
With the success of the film ‘Pitch Perfect’ - rumor has it that Universal is releasing a new radio version of the fan favorite ‘Cups’ by Anna Kendrick to radio stations. This new edit has a sound very similar to Phillip Phillip’s ‘Home’ or some of The Lumineer’s music. It’s still catchy as ever and will probably find even more success now that it has a proper radio edit.

1. cinematic orchestra - to build a home
super intense piano playing, a chilling build-up and great lyrics. actual goosebumps. maybe a few tears. whatever, i’m not ashamed to admit it.
2. the mountain goats - maybe sprout wings
this song. not just because of, well, frankly, how great it is. also because i associate it with the video of john darnelle playing this on AOL. a massively intense and immensely impressive performance.
3. menomena - muscle 'n flo
organ build-up. the only two words you need.
4. of monsters and men - dirty paws
cheerful, feet-stomping (literally, i promise) song, and if you don’t shout ‘hey’ as soon as you know when, then i think you need to listen to it until you do.
5. the magnetic fields - i think i need a new heart
i. love. the magnetic fields. i really do, and choosing one of their songs was… well, just imagine standing in a supermarket, in front of the biscuits isle.
6. explosions in the sky - so long, lonesome
i’ve put this song in nearly every songmix i’ve made so far. why? well, that’s easily explanied. by actions, not words. just stick on some earbuds, turn up the volume, and close your eyes.
7. vampire weekend - cape cod kwassa kwassa
vampire weekend is another one of those bands where i can listen to any song and feel myself pick up. cape cod kwassa kwassa is the song i celebrated to when i passed my exams, and i know from experience that whipping your hair during the chorus until you’re dizzy is hella fun.
8. the shins - so says i
or: every shins song ever. really. but for this, i was debating a lot between ‘so says i’ and ‘simple song’ and went with the first. another bouncy song, and i think their video for this one, which has, um, penguins in it, is somehow about communism. you can’t go wrong with this.
9. the new pornographers - crash years
forgive me, it was either this one or ‘letters from an occupant’, and i went with the softer one of the two. in case you have a headache, like myself.
10. mumford and sons - thistle and weeds
pianos. massive pianos. or, that’s what it feels like. like they’re playing a piano, twenty feet tall (though i think it’s a tiny keyboard). because the build-up in this song is amazing, followed by the words, desperate and loud, ‘i will hold on’. also, watch out for the ‘the sky above us shoots to kill’-bit. chills.
Fighting for Nothing | Meg & Dia

1. peaking lights - silver tongues, soft whispers 2. anna calvi - no more words (live) 3. the neighbourhood - female robbery 4. sucré - hiding out 5. shakira - nothing else matters/despedida (live) 6. lykke li - silent my song 7. fever ray - concrete walls 8. fever ray - keep the streets empty for me (fine cut bodies remix)
Love of mine Someday you will die But I’ll be close behind I’ll follow you into the dark No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white Just our hands clasped so tight Waiting for the hint of the spark
