Haylijah Shippers Club

Hi anon. 

I’m sorry we’ve been MIA, but I know I can only speak for myself ( @bynightafangirl ) and say, I have been MIA, mostly because I haven’t watched an episode of The Originals in over a month.

This season never really captured my attention and after the turn in Elijah’s character, Elijah’s death and the writers decision to systematically destroy Haylijah’s relationship, the whole show sort of soured for me. So, I haven’t made new gifs or answered any of the ask, because I haven’t watched. 

I do think you are right that we should do a better job in filling our queue and provided a place for good memories and I will work on that. 

And for a call out post, this was worded in a very nice way. Thanks for that. LOL. 

Ok. You ready anon? 

1. The scene on the porch. 

First of all. Why are they both so hot? The world may never know... 

I loved this sort of easy acceptance they have with one another. The humor and sarcasm is back with a vengeance and it makes me so happy. For BOTH of them. 

I loved that Elijah immediately knew what was wrong and was able to be a sounding board for Hayley. She hasn’t had that in 5 years. And as a single mom, I can tell you it is HARD to constantly make life-changing decisions without an adult to talk it all through with. Hayley now has someone to listen as she says, ‘Am I doing the right thing? Is this the right move for me and my child?’ That support can’t be overshadowed. 

Elijah being able to admit that he has let his family consume him is important as well. I hope they continue to explore that over the season. 

And his line about being a Mikaelson was a good one. I think in that moment he had a pride in being a Mikaelson. They had overcome enormous odds to reunite with one another and a huge part of that was Hayley.

2. Which brings us to the scene with Freya.

I suspected Elijah would back Hayley up in her argument with Freya, and was happy to be proven right. I have TONS of thoughts about Hayley and Freya’s conversation, but...that’s off topic. I think Elijah changed his mind later about Hayley being a Mikaelson based on this scene. He got an up close and personal view of how his family have destroyed countless lives over the centuries all for the sake of family. 

3. Date Night

So I read the line Elijah stated about the ‘other woman’ was written by Daniel Gillies, which is only makes it that much more special. The setting was perfect. Intimate and sweet. 

The speech they gave to one another about how good they both are was a doozy. Of course the idea that either one of them is ‘good’ is laughable, but in the world that they live in...they both do have good living in their hearts. I think this scene was more of a reflection of why these two people love one another. They look at each other and think, ‘This is a good man.’ ‘This is a good woman.’ And I was happy to be proven wrong about what would make Elijah say I Love You. It was perfect. 

4. Bedroom scene

Daniel is great, but Phoebe owned that scene. She shut it down. The only thing that could have made it better for me is if they shared blood.
