New image from ‘Justice League’ shows Batman, Wonder Woman, and the team standing tall

USA Today premiered a brand new image from Justice League in their new “must-see films of 2017” article. Batman News was able to obtain the image in high resolution, you can check it out above!

We get to see a new look at Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman. Superman will be coming later, probably in the second half of the movie. Don’t forget… he “died” at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The USA Today preview has some new quotes from director Zack Snyder as well. Check them out below.

With Superman (Henry Cavill) having laid down his life for Earth, Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) recruit a superteam to take on a new threat to civilization in Justice League. “It was all about the filling-out of this massive comic-book pantheon with the biggest and coolest heroes we could,” director Zack Snyder says of his group, which includes seafaring warrior Aquaman (Jason Momoa), speedy Flash (Ezra Miller) and high-tech Cyborg (Ray Fisher). Fans are getting a big character arc for Wonder Woman in 2017, beginning with her solo movie set during World War I. In it, she finds “humanity isn’t always the most kind and awesome thing,” says Snyder, also a producer on Wonder Woman. “It has its moments, but it can be brutal, and her coming to terms with that dichotomy is what we come to learn about her. And in Justice League, she’s fully evolved into someone who’s embraced mankind, partly through Superman’s sacrifice. She’s like, ‘All right, I’ve got to pick it up.’ ”

Patrick Wilson has been tapped to play Orm, the evil half-brother of Aquaman, in Warner Bros. adaptation of the popular DC comic staring Jason Momoa.

Amber Heard also stars as Mera, Aquaman’s love interest. James Wan is directing the superhero film with Peter Safran producing. Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, and Rob Cowan are executive producing.

Warner Bros. declined to comment on the casting.

The studio said last year that the title character would be caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and the undersea Atlanteans, who are ready to lash out in revolt. Aquaman is based on the DC Comics character who’s the king of Atlantis, a half-human and half-Atlantean named Arthur Curry. He was first introduced in the early 1940s.

In the comics, Orm aka Ocean Master is Aquaman’s human half-brother and a rival for the throne of Atlantis. He wreaks havoc on the high seas causing trouble on a regular basis for the underwater superhero.

The pic will bow on Oct. 5, 2018.

New official image of Aquaman Arthur Curry JasonMomoa via DC www.argus-gov.com via Justice League on Twitter

Though the Metahuman files on the ARGUS website still don’t seem to be accessible, someone was obviously able to get a peek at what’s inside, as the new pic of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman below has found its way online (via aJustice League fan account). Momoa seems to be wearing the same gear as he was in that shot of The King of Atlantis smashing the whiskey bottle in the Justice League SDCC trailer, so it’s a safe bet this image is related to that scene.

Diane Lane is set to return to the DC Extended Universe as Martha Kent, the mother of Clark Kent, a.k.a. the now deceased Superman, in Justice League.

Lane was also a recent guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Lane and Colbert swapped stories of how jarring the transition from live theater performance to taped television or film performances can be.

Lane has recently been dealing with a particularly extreme version of this issue. Lane is performing in a production of Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. At the same time that Lane was learning her lines for The Cherry Orchard, she had to fly to London to film her scenes for Justice League.

“It was almost a cliché of, ‘An actor prepares (not),’” Lane told Colbert, and then recounted flying back and forth from The Cherry Orchard rehearsals to the London-based production of Justice League.

Lane recalled the Justice League “base camp” for the actors was like a trailer park set up on a decommissioned airstrip. She also remembered Jason Momoa, the actor playing Aquaman in Justice League, even though she never personally met him. That’s because while Lane was running lines in her trailer forThe Cherry Orchard she could hear Momoa blasting death metal music as he prepared to film his scenes as Aquaman for Justice League.

“Jason Momoa, he’s our Aquaman,” Lane told Colbert. “I didn’t get to meet him, but I heard out of my trailer him getting ready for his scene. That’s how he was preparing. I’m inside trying to say, ‘Save the cherry orchard!’ and learn my lines for Chekhov and out the window I’m hearing this death metal while he’s getting to do whatever he does in the film, which I can’t wait to see him do.”
