I see Superman is taking inspiration from his best friend Batman in that last panel. XD

My dear lgbt+ kids,
I'm compiling some safety tips here for people in the US here that I found online. Some things you may want to do before January:
- Make an appointment with your doctor to talk about a long-term birth control plan, such as an IUD or vasectomy.
- Make an appointment with your doctor to make sure your vaccinations are up to date and to get a Covid booster.
- Check in, and stay in contact with, your queer friends. There’s strength in numbers. Community is important.
- Consider renewing your passport if necessary.
- Consider stocking up on fluoride toothpaste, pregnancy tests or other health products you worry about not (safely) having access to in the future.
- Rest up. Hydrate. Eat. Take care of yourself. The best act of rebellion is staying alive. You don’t need to feel strong or brave or even optimistic, just be kind to yourself.
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad
Some additional information on fluoride, to answer the questions in the comments: as everything in this list, this is a safety measure for potential situations that could arise. I obviously can not predict the future. With that in mind:
Fluoride is an important mineral primarily used to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent cavities. It helps rebuild weakened enamel and can reduce the amount of bacteria in the mouth that causes decay. In many places, fluoride is added to public water supplies in safe amounts, a measure backed by numerous studies showing it significantly reduces dental issues, especially in children.
Politicians who are right-wing extremists or conspiracy theorists may, however, seek to ban fluoride due to long-standing misinformation that fluoride is a form of government control or even a toxin (similar to the misinformation about vaccines that they also may seek to ban).
Some add-ons I can think of:
- As dark as it may sound: if you are a woman (or are read as one) and you’re considering breaking up with or divorcing a man, do it NOW. Who knows if you still can when Project 2025 comes.
- There’s a post going around by @lesbiantestsubject on how to stockpile HRT
- Maybe keep on extra eye out on signs of suicidal tendencies in your friends. Suicide rates may skyrocket.
- Just… hug your trans friends. Seriously, we need it.
Good additions! But obligatory addition on my part to that first point: breaking up or filing for divorce can be dangerous, especially in an unhealthy or abusive relationship. So, if that’s your situation: Reach out for support. Let trusted friends, family, or a support group know about your situation. And plan your exit carefully, even if time is of essence. Choose a safe time and place to leave, ideally when the other person isn't around. Plan how you'll get out and where you'll go. Collect IDs, bank info, and any essentials beforehand so you're prepared to leave without having to go back. Also, create a safety plan. Know your options in case things escalate, like where to hide or who to call. Have emergency contacts ready and consider storing a “go-bag” in a safe place. After leaving, consider limiting what you share publicly and possibly changing passwords. This can prevent tracking or unwanted contact.
If you’re trans, get things like surgery and name changes going PRONTO. Especially if you have already started hormone therapy or have had any other surgeries previously. Make sure you get your birth certificate changed.
You may be able to petition the judge hearing your name change request to waive having to report your name in newspapers.
Another important addition, thankyou!
I also can’t help noticing that wealthy people are leaving the us at unprecedented rates, which is the same demographic that historically escaped first and survived war and disasters of the past. To me following the rich is akin to following the rats when it comes to survival. While I can’t afford to leave in the same quick comfy manner, I did set up an appointment to get a passport this month and I am doing research to better position myself to be able to leave the country should I need to. Here’s some tidbits I’m gathering that could be useful:
-It was very easy to set up a passport appointment online at a local post office and I think it costs somewhere around 100-150$, a passport allows you to stay in several countries for up to 3 months without a visa if shit hits the fan
-It appears that one of the strongest ways to get a visa quick in many countries without being rich is to be a student, I’m already in school but I’m looking into where I’d be able to transfer if I needed to and what that timeline would look like. A cheap way of doing this might be to sign up for part time classes at a community college, some states even have free tuition if you haven’t tried at or earned a degree yet.
-While I don’t recommend debt and gaining debt doesn’t help you leave the country, I did take out a small student fed loan for community college during COVID and it kept me afloat so I still don’t regret it, it’s not great but I imagine that resource could go extinct with this administration which is worth thinking about. At the same time debt may reduce your chances of getting a visa in some countries, also worth thinking about. Lastly, being in school at a time when people don’t value information is rough but I’m hoping being in a community that does value facts will be a little better of a community to be in right now too.
-I’m gathering food. I know it sounds crazy but as a former emergency preparedness professional and as a millennial who grew up with a depression era grandma, my instincts are on fire. The economy is gonna get bad quick, I’m stocking up on canned goods and foods with long shelf lives (peanut butter, jerky, and pudding are emergency management favs). If nothing else, I don’t want to be throwing money at groceries when I may need to save up for a big move.
-I’m reading more international news sources than US based. This is partially to stay informed on the world without being overcome with rage as easily, but I also need to know what’s happening overseas politically socially and economically as I’m thinking ahead about a potential escape plan.
-I’m reading up on authoritarianism in history and in current times and noting patterns to note my “red flag” moments. For example, a big signal for me to start activating my plans is any speak of potential travel restrictions or interference with my ability to travel.
This is only me preparing for the worst case scenario but I don’t wanna regret being underprepared in a few years. The wealthy already prepared months or even years ago and started hitting their big red buttons this week. If they’re not safe here why would I be?

Some good news for the day. Thank you Onion! 🤣
so apparently a new kind of bot dropped on tumblr, one that steals art from artists and puts a fake readmore that it's actually a link to scammy sites
like in this case they used @captainmera 's art
block and report if you see others like these!
*BIG ANNOYED SIGH*
Thanks Nebu. And yeah, please, if people could help report and block them, that would be grand. 🙇
Ain't it beautiful how each of Hunter's parental figures offers different ingredients for his passion in creating palismen:
Camila's sensitivity towards creatures and showing him how to use the sewing machine..
(god...he says the line just as the camera cuts to a closeup of his newly injured finger T___T)
Darius showing him the stitches on his newly repaired cloak, which was what sparked his desire to start creating things that were his own...
Dell and the Clawthorne family offering the wisdom, the tools of the trade and the craft itself...
rock paper scissors time, here's how this is gonna work: you win if you vote for the option that beats the option that gets the MOST votes. you lose if you vote for the option that the most people choose.
I'm actually extremely triggered by being asked to reflect on my behavior and unlearn deeply rooted sexist and racist tendencies. You see I've been coddled like a baby my entire adult life and if you're not niceys to me I'll be forced to join the proud boys. This is a YOU problem btw
If any one of my posts is to break containment, make it this one.
Before January 2025, download your favorite fics, especially those with smut or queer content.
If Project 2025 goes into effect (which it very likely will now that we have three red branches of government in the US), they may attempt to restrict the use/sharing of media on sites like ao3.
This particularly applies to fics with smut or any type of queer content, because the official Project 2025 document states, "Pornography, manifested today in the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children, for instance... has no claim to First Amendment protection... Pornography should be outlawed."
Now, I don't expect ao3 to disappear or go anywhere without a fight, but it's best to be on the safe side these days.
To download your favorite fics:
Go to archiveofourown.org and open the fic you want to download.
At the top right corner, to the right of the 'subscribe' button, is a button that says 'download'. Click it.
A drop-down menu will give you the option to choose the format of your download. Choose your preferred format (.epub and .pdf are my personal favorites -- .epub lets you open a fic in the apple books app and .pdf is compatible with like every device and program out there).
When you click the button for your preferred format, a pop-up window appears confirming your choices. The title of the document will default to the title of the fic, so be aware of that and consider changing conspicuous titles to something ignorable, especially if you share the computer.
You're done! Now do this with all your favorite fics!
Stay safe out there, your favorite characters are rooting for you <3
Get your cds, your dvds, all your old media storage. Hoard that data. Grab some linux ISOs, pull a copy of tor for multiple OS's, set up a vpn account. Delete old accounts, and maaaaybe make a TAILS disk.
something you don't learn until you get really far into the making and tinkering life is that there's no such thing as "glue" really. there are so many kinds of substances that stick other substances together and they are all very different and if you just go look at the adhesives aisle in the hardware store the packaging never actually tells you anything useful. it's like "this is SUPER T-REX POWER GLUE" and the fine print says "good for use on wood metal and plastic". okay. but WHICH PLASTICS MY GOOD BITCH,
because SURPRISE, there's no such thing as "plastic" either. every kind of wood is basically the same on a chemical level, but the only thing every plastic has in common is "some of its molecules are long" and that is NOT a quality that determines how things stick together.
I just ordered some stuff I hope will permanently stick a circuit board to a steel sheet and withstand temperatures up to 150 degrees. by the way circuit boards are made of epoxy-bound woven glass cloth which is cool as hell but what the fuck do you glue that with? can any of the 12 kinds of adhesives I currently own do that? no of course not. if I want to stick two pieces of acrylic together so hard they become watertight to a depth of 3000 metres I have some shit that does that, but it does literally nothing else.
anyway. once you start learning how many kinds of sticking things together there are, the people at 3M start to seem like witches and I don't know if they're the kind we can trust with that level of arcane knowledge
Can I introduce you to one of the most useful sites from the early web? It’s thistothat.com and it tells you what kind of adhesives work to stick different types of substances together. It looks like it was designed in 1999 with some ads slapped over the top, because it was designed in 1999…. But like most things from the early web, it does what’s on the label: tells you how to stick this to that.
Arcane knowledge my ass, the internet used to be useful about shit.
