Post of my LBFAD second anniversary goods from Wudoll! First is the acrylic ticket holders. So pretty, almost like stained glass.

Keychains! All of these items are by Wudoll

The famous anniversary box

And a couple of the items inside

BIG acrylic stands. They are like six inches tall. Also they’re cute but the proportions are weird. Hers are bigger than his?? So her head is like a 1/3 bigger. Jennie tried to photograph them so the proportions matched better 😆

Little acrylic stands. These are a set so there’s some repeat art from the big ones. May do a giveaway for the repeat art ones?? Idk we’ll see

Little set of art cards ♥️

Wall Tapestries!!

Lastly is Changhengs. I’m unsure if I will keep him. I enjoy CH but space is limited.

Good evening, everyone. It's time again for @lbfad-minibang! This year I'm doing a canon divergence fic. It's a bit hard to explain while keeping it brief, so I hope the summary I've prepared is enough to give a taste. This is an idea that I've been wanting to do for a while, and I'm using this event as an opportunity to do so. The 'mortal realm' arc that is described is not the bulk of the fic, but it does have jianghu!DFQC (with a cute lil ponytail) as XLH's bodyguard, which is very pleasing to me. Also jianghu!Shangque (but he already has a cute lil ponytail in canon).

I made the choice to do this summary from DFQC's perspective not because he's more relevant, but because XLH's story in this fic is much more difficult to explain in summary form. I thought sticking with him would just make for a smoother summary. XLH's tribe has still been exterminated, and she is still sealed, but she comes back MUCH earlier—too early, in fact, and that's why she does tribulations—to stabilize her primordial spirit and her power. But... they're not entirely normal tribulations. You'll see.

In my mind, Xiyun was raised as a very carefree, playful child. Although she was aware of her duty, her parents made sure not to let it overwhelm everything about her life. I believe this is supported by canon and the brief flashbacks we see of her with her people. Thus, Xiyun isn't really very different from the Xiao Lanhua we know in temperament in this story. She's more worldly, wiser, and certainly carries more weight on her shoulders than the XLH we meet at the beginning of canon, but I think you could fairly compare her to XLH at the end of the series, personality-wise. Still very much our little flower demon. 💖

Chidi is dead, and the one hundred thousand soldiers of Cangyan Sea have been sealed, but Dongfang Qingcang escapes. Desperate to revive his men and defeat Shuiyuntian once and for all, Dongfang Qingcang hears rumors of a strange artifact in the mortal realm that may be able to assist him in his quest. Enter Hua Xiaolan, a young mortal woman whose family hides a secret and who Dongfang Qingcang must grow closer to if he wants to have a chance at saving his people. When it turns out she is much more than what she seems, he must cope with not only pretending to be a regular mortal man and the bodyguard of a wealthy merchant’s daughter, but with his returning emotions and the feelings he’s starting to develop for this strange, human girl. But this is only the beginning of the story. When he returns to Cangyan Sea and discovers his Hellfire has left him with the restoring of his seven emotions, he makes a last ditch effort to take out as many soldiers of Shuiyuntian as he can with what little Hellfire that remains in his body. Expecting to go down in a blaze of glory, he is instead saved at the last moment from death by the Goddess of Xishan; Xiyun, or as he knows her, Hua Xiaolan.

We have spent the last couple days in LBFAD discord matching up all the major characters to what kind of cat they would be. Their catsona? Anyway this is vital information and we decided we must compile it.

Dongfang Qingcang:

Xiao Lanhua:

(I'm pretty sure this is a cat on douyin and her name might be Luna? If so, that's appropriate.)

Shangque:

Not a cat!! He's just so clearly a dog. In specific, we decided on a Rottweiler because they have somewhat of a scary reputation, but naturally he is sweet and loyal and just lets all the cats ride on him.

Changheng:

Ragdoll!

Danyin:

Jieli:

We decided on a tortie, but then it was like 'what about a split faced tortie because duplicity?'

Xunfeng:

Naturally.

Ronghao:

???? do the markings vanish when he's pretending to be normal Ronghao and not the Lord of Haishi?

Chidi:

The ever elegant Abyssinian.

Yunzhong:

(NGL this is kind of mean to Wilfred, the very lovable cat in the pic, but... we thought it was funny.)

Xiao Run:

He would SO be a golden retriever, but if he had to be a cat, there is only one possibility...

I do not at all think that Xiao Lanhua believed Changheng when he told her that Dongfang Qingcang killed her tribe. I would even venture to say that's a misreading of the series.

And it's not because she's blinded by love! It's because she's cleverer than that. It just makes no sense. Even if she doesn't know it's impossible because of the timeline (DFQC was imprisoned before they were killed), she knows Dongfang Qingcang and Shangque both.

And it's not a matter of 'oh my bb boy would never do bad things', because at this point she's very aware of what war between the two tribes means and has meant. LBFAD is partially a story about the damage that a cycle of violence creates within generations and generations of people, and Xiao Lanhua comes to understand this better than most.

It's because she knows Shuiyuntian was his aim, and he'd have no reason or desire to bring in innocent, neutral parties. Shangque himself says that going after Xilan would be unethical. She's not living in a lala land where her fiance doesn't have blood on his hands. She's just smarter than that. He's never been pointlessly evil. That's not who he was, even without emotions.

Every single thing Shuiyuntian told her growing up about Dongfang Qingcang turned out to be wrong. Why would she believe it now, even from the mouth of Changheng? "What is real and what isn't real?"' She questions and doubts Changheng's truth and his words right then and there.

DFQC banked on what he perceived as his own awfulness to get Xiao Lanhua to stop loving him, but he overestimated himself on that front. Her love is steadfast, but it's not that she's willing to ignore these horrific things; that he killed her people, that he never loved her. She's just smart enough to realize they're not true.

Some LBFAD second anniversary merch!

The first two are acrylic keychains you can open and close (yes the DFQC one is the most perfect merch ever). The second is a set of four LBFAD acrylic ticket holders. All are by Wudoll.

A little thing I enjoy is that Dongfang Qingcang is smaller than most of the rest of the men in the cast. Not only is he shorter, but he's also not as broad. By no means is Dylan short (he's decently tall), but he's just not as big a dude.

Cangyan Sea Boy Band pic, and everyone in the image is notably quite a bit larger than him with one exception.

ZLH is of course several inches taller than him, and he's broader too. DFQC is given a lot of clothes by the costume designers that make him look bigger. Notice the second robe in the first pic, whereas Xiao Run is only in one layer.

Comparison when they're both holding Xiao Lanhua just to show HOW MUCH bigger Changheng is.

And with Shangque! He's not wearing a second robe in this shot, so you really got an idea of his actual frame size.

The one character he seems to be very close to size in is his brother, which makes sense!

I don't think they deliberately cast these actors based on my observations per se, but the idea of DFQC not being a big man, but being the most powerful in the three realms appeals to me. And it also appeals to me because he wears SO MUCH clothing, and it tickles my blorbo rotating brain to imagine him doing this partially because he knows he's not large, and he wants to be visually intimidating.

I especially think of that massive armor. He doesn't just wear it on the battlefield. He wears it in meetings with advisors and with the two kings. There is no reason for him to wear it there except presence. Yes, it could be ceremonial, but he's also in the throne room without it from time to time.

Even on the battlefield, no one else in the series has armor that huge, that cumbersome. I'm ignoring the impracticality of it because none of the armor in this show is practical, but I really like the idea that he chooses that armor not only because it's intimidating, but because it makes his (not very imposing on its own) figure look much bigger than it is.

Also remember that Dongfang Qingcang became Moon Supreme as the equivalent of an ELEVEN YEAR OLD? He no doubt had to make himself look stronger than he physically appeared at first.
