Hey Everyone:

So, long story short: My computer became essentially unusable on Saturday. I ended up getting a new one (I’m paying it off it payments) but apparently the new computer either hates my art program (Firealpaca) or hates my tablet (it’s pretty damaged) because it constantly freaks the eff out when I try to use it. 

So I don’t know when I’m gonna have more comics come out. I don’t have any of my art files from my old computer either because my external harddrive is formatted to macs and doesn’t want to download a driver for a pc because it’s “already a pc drive”. So yeah. No comics for awhile.

I guess there’s a lesson in this? “Don’t cheap out for computers? Even if you’re not sure you like the company of your old computer?” I don’t know. All I know is I just feel kind of crummy right now.

So I guess if you guys have any suggestions for art programs for a Lenova 2-in-1 laptop lemme know? 

I’m sorry I’ve just been a depressing ass lately. I feel like all I’ve been doing is complaining. So I’m sorry about that.

New comics hopefully soon.

It’s Feature Friday Thursday!

Today I’m featuring the fantastic Sweaty Palms Vol. 2- The Anthology About Anxiety. 

What is it about: As the title suggests, Sweaty Palms features stories about folks and their experiences with anxiety. Every story is unique, because each story is drawn by a different artist about their own experiences. 

Why I like it: I had heard about the series from an artist I follow on Tumblr, and the concept definitely sparked my interest. Luckily, I was able to find a copy at RCCC from one of the artists featured.

I have to be honest, I had to set it down a few times. Why? Some of the stories get really intense. Anxiety ain’t no joke folks. But that’s part of the reason that makes this anthology so good- the stories are intimate, personal, and raw with emotion. 

Not only are the stories uniquely told, they’re also uniquely drawn. All of the art styles are amazing in their own way, and they’re all formatted creatively. Some have dozens of panels, some have none at all. They’re all drawn how the artist sees their experiences. Seriously, it’s a fantastic book to flip through.

 But seriously, if you are someone who deals with serious anxiety and depression, I would be a bit careful when reading it. (If I recall correctly, they do put a warning in the beginning of the book. They also provide some resources for anxiety to look into in the back!)

How can I support this: Obviously, when I talk about reading this I’m talking about Vol. 1. HOWEVER! The Kickstarter for Vol. 2 is up RIGHT NOW! 

The link for the Kickstarter can be found up above, with more information about the project itself. The reason I wanted to do Feature Friday a day early is because the Kickstarter actually ends Saturday August 4th at 10PM.

The good news is, they’re been 100% funded! You can still support the project though, and they have some super cool stretch goals to reach as well.

It’s Feature Friday again and yes I’m gonna talk about one of my friends again because I can’t help that my friends are crazy talented

Today’s feature is @pinup-dreams-cosplay! I am constantly telling people about Diana’s cosplays because they are always INCREDIBLE. I’m always excited to see what she’s going to do next, because I know it will always look amazing. Look at that Vaporeon. SHE MADE THAT BALLGOWN. 

Need a hat? She’s got it. Maybe you need a plush? She can do it. How about a suit? I swear she just finished one in a week. I don’t know what crazy powers she has, but I know she has some kind of magical sewing ability.

Whatever cosplay she makes, you know it’s one she puts a lot of heart into. (Also I’m super excited to see her next one...)

When she’s not making incredible cosplay, she can occasionally be found drawing cute things on her art blog. A lot of original art, some delightful Miraculous Ladybug art... it’s all super cute.

heyyyyyyyy guys

You might have noticed I’ve been insanely scattered this month and one of the big reasons is I was in the process of moving!

I moved all of my stuff into my new place (mostly) during the weekend and honestly haven’t had a moment to just… sit down until late this evening. …so that means I haven’t had a chance to draw at all.

If I’m going to do Feature Fridays, I might as well start with my friends, right?

Beautiful digital painting, sick as hell pipe cleaner creatures, creative character design… what can’t  @solarflareanon do? 

She might play with many kinds of art, but the art she tends to stick with are dragons and mythical creatures of sorts. But no matter what she’s working on, you know if she’s working on something it’s gonna be delightfully creative and unique.

Though she draws a lot, a big focus of her art is her amazing pipe cleaner creations. From dragons to Pokemon, she’s able to make some absolutely FANTASTIC creatures out of a craft tool. And though they might look delicate, her creations are crazy durable. In her words, “Of course they’re durable, they’re toys. I make them so you can play with them!”

I figured out what I want to do for Fridays instead of comics!

So what I want to do is every Friday make a post about a creative person and/or projects and talk about why they’re dope, along with a few examples of their work.

But I don’t want it to be just stuff I think is great, I want it to be stuff you think is great too! If you know someone making awesome stuff, send me a link to their stuff/some examples/why you think they’re great so we can show off people who do super great stuff!

Basically, I want a chance to talk more about stuff I like and get more interactive in this bisnatch. So let’s talk about people doing cool stuff!

Update:

So.

I'm trying to think of a good way to start this, but I'm not really sure how. I guess I'll say this: I'm struggling to do as much as I’m doing. And I feel dumb for saying that, because I know there are a lot of folks who do so much more than me. But I’m still struggling and I’ve been really stressed out about everything lately.

Before I say anything more I will say I WILL STILL BE DOING THIS COMIC. I just can't do it twice a week. And here’s some reasons why:

  • Time: These comics take up a TON of time. I know they look pretty simple, but they take up so so SO much time. And I mean, I also feel stupid about that because I see artists doing way more complicated stuff twice a week and it sucks that I can't do that. (I know don’t compare yourself to others it’s something I struggle with constantly)
  • Quality: Because I’ve been rushing to get these done, and y’know, do all of the things in my life, I’ve noticed these comics looking a lot worse than I want. And I don’t wanna put out crappy stuff! (At least by my standards)
  • Mental health: When it comes to art, I’ve literally only had time to draw these comics, and that really sucks! And I waste time on my phone because I’m too tired to draw because I was staying up late again trying to finish a mediocre comic. And that’s crummy! And if I’m spending a ton of time on these comics, that means I don’t have time to do the things I actually need to do, like chores and such. Like, I love drawing these comics, but feeling like I have to rather than I want to? That’s just not fair to me.
  • Financial reasons: Look, I make zero dollars and zero cents on this comic. I don’t have a lot of money. And if I’m spending too much time on this thing, that means I don’t have time to cook so I eat out and I spend money eating out for an example. Like money isn’t everything, but I kind of need it. I have a lot of really big expenses coming up and I’m stressing out.

Look, I get this just seems like a lot of justification for pulling back a bit but that's because it kind of is... for me. I feel like I’ve failed something. Like this should be easy and I can’t do it? But yeah.

Hell, this might barely be a blip on your radar. This might be a silly comic you read for fun occasionally. Less than 200 people follow this comic. (We ain't no Sarah Scribbles up in here.) But I hope you still stick with me! And hey, if there’s something else I should start doing for Fridays, lemme know! I will be posting something this Friday, but it’s not really a comic and it’s a little self centered (like this comic isn’t ha) so stay tuned~

TL;DR: Changing my updating from Tuesdays and Fridays to only Tuesdays
