fucking classic how one of my year 9s graffitied one of my tables (clearly done during my lesson with him on friday) and incriminated himself because said graffiti is his snapchat username, which has his first name and first initial of his last name in it 😂

#for the record i am fine#at least i am now#have a class of 20 year 9s where like 6 of them are absolutely horrible#teaching them last period on a friday?#earlier on i was Not Fine#cried on my head of department and i hate myself for it#like the class left#i returned half the textbooks i was using to said HoD#got partway down the corridor with the other half and had to stop to try to compose myslf#it was more of a cry of frustration for the rest of the class who are bloody lovely#and i cannot teach them atm because these six are so shitty they’re stopping the other great kids from learning something#changed the seating plan twice in one week to accommodate and did it work? nope#we’ve got a temporary plan in place but i’ve got this lot for three bloody years!!!#teacher tag
getting an email this morning to say that we had The Call wasn’t the ideal thing to hear on a monday 🙃
#i was sat with my head of department in our PPA period#and he just refreshed his email and went ‘oh god 🤦🏻♀️’#in short ofsted are in tomorrow and wednesday#it’s just a section 8 as we’re a good school and it’s basically checking that still applies#but to my great displeasure the head said in the briefing we had after school that they’re looking at english maths and…. humanities 😑#i’m nervous af though#the last inspection i went through was in my first year of teaching#back when i was a baby primary school teacher#in 2016 😂#teacher tag
ain't no tired like end of the first week of autumn term tired
#i am shattered#this week has very much felt like a 'chucked in at the deep end' kinda week#two hours with my new form two days in a row was rough#they're lovely don't get me wrong but good grief being a new year 7 form tutor at the start of the year is A Lot#and then having 5 out of 5 periods on that second extended form time day AND the day after??#oof#today and yesterday were running around like a headless chicken days because of said 5/5 lessons which only adds to the exhaustion#😴😴😴#teacher tag

as someone who teaches college, i don’t think a single educator i know would disagree with this
#yup!!#the secondary school i work in has updated our phone policy to no see no hear no USE now#and if any of my classes complain#i’ll be more than happy to tell them how i survived using a little flip phone back in 2005 that i couldn’t use the internet on#not because it wasn’t available but because it was v expensive to use then#i got through my day only being able to contact my mum to tell her i’d either got to school safely or was on my way home#any emergencies then the school would let her know#teacher tag

#the poor head of history has to observe me teaching two days in a row 😂#because i realised my already booked in obs with him is on thursday#he came into my classroom after school and asked me how i was feeling about Friday#he thinks i’ll have y7#which narrows it down to one class#because i teach all three lessons for 2 of the 6 year 7 forms#and then i two more of them once a fortnight each for history#so of the two left one is notoriously horrible to deal with so it won’t be them#therefore the only one left is the form who register in my room every morning with one of the PE teachers#i’ll happily take them over the other option which is Year 10 😂#who as a whole are not a nice year group#teacher tag#personal
just remembered that they're going to be doing early interviews for people who apply early for this job and my 'new staff' lesson observation is next thursday, so if i get an interview before then i could totally ask the head of history if the interview lesson would count as the new staff obs 🤷🏻♀️

If only there were some sort of facility where teenagers could be taught new skills.
Anyway, here's a helpful diagram. When I was hit on the temple this was one of the harder things I had to reteach myself. Don't be shamed into not asking questions, and it's alright if it takes you a while to figure it out. Don't let someone make you feel bad for learning new things, or relearning old ones.
Sometimes, unfortunately, you have to teach yourself. YouTube is a valid option.
#yeah as a secondary teacher this really is happening#as in teens not being able to read analogue clocks not the exam hall part#they’re so used to digital being on phones etc that they just don’t get the practice with analogue anywhere else other than classroom clocks#i happily try to help out if any of my students tell me they can’t read analogue#also as an ex-primary school teacher they do still get taught it don’t worry about that#it’s literally in the national curriculum#for several year groups#teacher tag#time

i don’t understand why some fanfiction writers will put all of there work in one giant paragraph. i am constantly abusing a paragraph break. i use it every five seconds. new subject? new paragraph. slightly different angle? new paragraph. any sentence that holds any amount of weight? boom new paragraph. i will use one word then do another paragraph break. you can’t stop me.
