Backstory: Helen was born in Wichita, Kansas, with her twin sister Dorothy. She was the only one in her family with powers and her parents always warned her to be extremely cautious about them. So Helen kept them secret, but practiced with them in secret. As she grew up, she took an interest in the aircraft station where her father worked. She would accompany him and learn to work with the planes, to fly them and to be a mechanic. By the time she was 17, she was an expert, and her parents were beginning to disapprove of her unfeminine habits and interests. They wanted her to conform to gender roles the way her twin sister Dorothy did. One night, Helen and Dorothy has a great fight about it, and Helen ended up packing her things and leaving home. She joined the army, where she was placed to work as a pilot with more experienced mechanic Silas “Snug” Porter. Snug was a calm, easygoing, and reliable partner and the two became fast friends, even to the point where Helen showed him her powers. Snug was impressed and told her they’d be sure to come in handy someday. He was right; one day when he and Helen were flying a helicopter, a small plane swerved out of orbit nearby. Helen spotted what was wrong with the engine and used her powers to launch herself over to the plane, where she fixed the engine in midair, saving the passengers. One of the passengers was an NSA agent. He approached Helen after and offered her a position in Municiberg as one of their superheroes. Elated, Helen was discharged from the army and moved to California to start training. It was rocky at first adjusting, particularly since she struggled to find a costume that would hold up under the strain of fighting, but eventually Rick Dicker commissioned Edna Mode to make her a suit, and Helen became Elastigirl. The public adored her and she did a great job, making many friends in the super community. Helen also attracted many suitors during this time, as popular as she was, and although she took the chance to explore, recognizing her bisexuality none of her partners were serious. She almost got into a committed relationship with Apogee, the gravity-altering superheroine, but the other woman was afraid of commitment and backed out before they could seal the deal. However, Helen’s life changed when Mr. Incredible entered the scene and rose to the top as America’s golden boy very quickly. Jealous at his fame, Helen assumed he was an egotistical jerk. When he began stepping into her part of town to interfere with her fights, she reacted as such and tore him a new one. However, Mr. Incredible— Bob Parr— then confessed that he had genuine feelings for her and had been trying to impress her with his exploits. Helen’s anger cooled down and they became friends, soon after, lovers. Barely a year later, they got married. Helen invited her family to the wedding, but got no response back. The couple were very happy together, but soon after the lawsuits fron the public began to fall on the NSA, and public outcry forced the supers into hiding. Helen was devastated to lose her superhero identity and didn’t know what to do— until her first child, Violet, came along. The birth of her her children shifted Helen’s perspective and she dedicated herself to her new life as a mother, focusing on her family, trying to engage Bob and get him to turn away from the glory of the golden days. So it was until Bob left for Nomanisan, the fight with the Omnidroid, and the resulting lift of the ban with her involvement with Devtech. Nowadays Helen is much happier as a part time super while still raising her family. She looks forward to the future and seeing what becomes of superheroes. Her only regret is that she still has not had contact with her sister Dorothy since they were both 17.
