Star Wars Episode IX Predictions and Theories Meta: Part 1

I’d like to start out by thanking @ohtze and @ashesforfoxes for inspiring me to write this lengthy piece. Thank you for all your insight and time you give to the Star Wars fandom!

For this particular post, I will be delivering my predictions / crack theories for Star Wars Episode IX. I’m super excited for this film already, even though I writhe in agony whenever I think about the two-year-long wait ahead of us. And it might still be a little too early to start theorizing about what could potentially happen in IX, but at the same time it’s also the perfect opportunity to develop these crazy theories before they get violently shut down by Lucasfilm and by the people working on the sequel trilogy.

Plus, The Last Jedi just became the biggest movie in 2017, having the biggest box office numbers in the year. So for all the crazy whining by fanboys and anti-reylos screaming about how Disney ruined Star Wars, they are all screaming into an empty void. Disney DOES NOT care about your petty tears because they’ve got their money, and JJ Abbrams has already finished writing the script (at least the first draft has already been submitted) for Episode IX. Essentially the audience reaction has little to absolutely no impact on the development of the story, regardless of whether or not you enjoyed TLJ.

Soon Lucasfilm will start filming in the summer of 2018 (this summer omfg), and we’re already getting some exciting news about IX. The code name for IX is Black Diamond, and granted, the code name has no apparent giveaway to the plot, and if there is, it’s very vague. Apart from that, they’ll also be filming in Argyll, Scotland this summer, so we’ll have that to look forward to.

Now we have to ask ourselves, how will JJ finish this trilogy’s epic conclusion? The short answer, besides getting an obvious resolution of a sort, is happiness. Episode IX will undoubtedly have a happy ending (specifically with reylo), especially when Star Wars has always been about sending messages of hope. Additionally, we have to remember that Star Wars is ultimately a franchise for kids; George Lucas has firmly admitted that he created Star Wars for 12-year-olds, and Disney and Lucasfilm agree with that sentiment. They’re not going to give audiences an unsatisfactory tragic ending.

Bearing the inevitable happy ending we’ll see in IX, this meta will be broken down into several parts because I’ll be explaining all my theories EXTENSIVELY, and as I’m writing these separate posts, I’ll provide links for all the parts, but for now here are my predictions in Part One of this meta:

  • Time Skip of 1-3 Yrs (at least)
  • The Demand or Construction of a Second Starkiller Base (but not in the way you’re thinking)
  • Kylo/Ben will inevitably come to reject the First Order’s ideals, spurring General Hux’s betrayal and officially declaring Kylo/Ben a traitor to the F.O.
  • The Knights of Ren reappear and are confirmed to be Luke’s fallen students. They are also connected to the legend of The Knights of the Round Table.

WARNING: This meta/predictions list is quite long and contains TLJ spoilers. Additionally, given what happened after TLJ, we should take the film as an important lesson as to how you shouldn’t expect your headcanons to actually play out in canon. Have fun theorizing, but do it with caution.

Hey guys! I decided to play around and do some minor editing on my recording from my Part One review on TLJ. It’s the same audio recording on soundcloud, just now there are visuals to guide you along the way. Let me know what you guys think, and of course, I would appreciate likes, comments, etc. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy!

The Last Jedi (Drunk Now Sober) Review and Thoughts: PART TWO

It’s 2018 now, and I continue to babble about how cool The Last Jedi is despite the "controversy" amongst Star Wars fans. I further explain how Rian Johnson fantastically crushed fandom expectations for this film, address the importance of the “Where’s Han?” line, and pickup my review where I left off with the reylo elevator scene all the way to the end of the film.

Please excuse my ugly ass, nasally and strained voice. Feel free to contact me and tell me what you guys thoughts, and I hope you enjoy my fangirling and analysis!

The Last Jedi (Drunk) Review and Thoughts: PART ONE

Time/Table of Contents:

  • 00:00:00 - Intro and Now Sober / What I Forgot to Address about TLJ in PART ONE (no Stormpilot, unwarranted Rose hate, why Finnrose over Stormpilot in canon, Poe’s arc overtaking Finn’s, the problematic mystery boxes in TFA, “Where’s Han?”, Han’s Dice, Color in TLJ, “You are a monster”)

People’s misinterpretation of Luke’s character on TLJ is astoundingly bad and I expected better of Luke stans…. his final acts toward his nephew were to BRING him CLOSER to the light, not giving up on him. Luke admits he cannot save Ben. But he does have to apologize. He does allow Ben to be ANGRY and to have that chance to express his anger safely without harming others in that moment.

Luke projected himself across the galaxy so that he could protect those he loved – INCLUDING Ben Solo. He protected his nephew from his own self in his final acts.

That is so essentially Luke. How can you be disappointed in that ending for him? Luke will always be with Ben, and he has given Ben the apology and closure with him that they needed. Ben can’t forgive Luke yet, but now there is room for that forgiveness to begin to foster.

Random TLJ thought, but I find it very interesting and clever that early on when Luke asks Rey, “Where’s Han?”, the next shot immediately cuts to Kylo/Ben.

Then later in that scene with Snoke and Kylo, Snoke demeans Kylo by saying something along the lines of Kylo still having his father’s heart.

Then near the end of the film when Luke confronts Ben, Luke tells him how he would always be with him, just like his father. Then his final words, which are to Ben, are clearly something Han would say, “See ya around, kid.” This clearly shakes Ben.

Soon afterwards, Ben finds Han’s dice, and while they physically disappear, Han’s presence does not. For as hard as Ben tries to eliminate the physical manifestations of his past, the past will always be a part of him; it will never leave him, just like Han.

“Where’s Han?”

With Ben Solo.

Late night doodling again, but this time I just HAD to draw something regarding The Last Jedi. Eventually I’ll add more characters to create a big mashup drawing, but for now I’m happy showing this part of the illustration with Luke and Rey.

I couldn’t stop thinking about what Daisy Ridley said about her relationship with Luke:

“...and what is very apparent from where we left off in The Force Awakens and begin in The Last Jedi, is that Rey has a certain expectation of Luke. And as a lot of people know, it’s difficult when you meet your heroes because they might not be what you expect.”

...so I tried to draw that scenario. With Luke wanting the Jedi to end, I imagine Rey won’t quietly nod along to everything he says and will be quite defiant towards her “hero”. I also played with the whole ominous red color scheme that this movie has.
