I absolutely fucking love how Anakin Skywalker, despite it brining all sorts of problems and pains over and over again, undoubtedly trusts people, believes in them and shows them just how much he cares. Unlike other Jedi who are compassionate but distant, Anakin is compassionate and open. He trusts and respects his droids because he treats them like friends (and not like servants, maybe because he knows what it’s like to be treated like one), and that has brought him inconveniences and dangers many times but think about how many times it saved him and others!

He trusts, believes and shows affection to his padawan, even when the entire world turns against her. And guess what? He turns out to be right. He truly cares about her, and Ahsoka knows that, and when Luminara asks, whether he’s ready to let her go one day, he cannot answer because it’s too hard. Letting go of those you love, accepting their passing from your life, the more you love them, the harder it is. And Anakin’s problem is that he can’t let go; he loves too strongly. But how many times has that saved his friends? How many times has he refused to give up on them, and turned out to be right? How many times have they saved themselves and others because of what he taught them, told them, because of the love and care and faith they received from him?

He trusts and cares about Padme most of all. He even says that in one of the clone wars episodes, that there is nothing more important to him that his feelings for her. He saves her many times, and she saves him, but even more times he shows her how much he believes in her, how he’s impressed, how he is scared for her, and yet gets over his fears and trusts her. That’s why I get livid when somebody says that Anakin is a bad husband. He is literally so many good things: loyal, passionate, faithful, caring, kind, supportive. He isn’t perfect, and that’s what pisses people off. And the way his love twists at the end of the story, the way his fears and love turn into terrible actions caused by blind rage, terror and confusion, that’s real tragedy.

To me, that’s what has always been so tragic about Star Wars and Anakin. It’s a story about how good traits in a person, their immense love can cross a line and blur into all the wrong things. It’s about how good people become monsters not because of the lack of love but because of its excess. That is truly horrifying, the fact that you can love to the point of utter and complete destruction.

Anakin Skywalker and Huttese headcanons:

Here we go!

1. Sometimes when he’s on a mission or at the Temple or at home he swears in huttese under his breath (which actually annoys Padme since she fucking knows it, and so does Obi-Wan, so there’s that)

2. He comforts people in huttese too. He knows a lot of phrases/gentle words, so when Padme is upset about something or Ahsoka comes to him sad and unsettled, he just hugs them and tells them something good in huttese. Padme always smiles. Or maybe when he finds a clone from the 501 crying behind the barracks because he lost his best friend, his brother, and is too embarrassed to cry in front of other clones, and of course Anakin can’t just ignore him, of course he comforts him and listens to him, and tells him that it’s gonna be okay, and that he understands. And some soft huttese phrases too, because it’s just a habit already.

3. When he was a padawan he would often get into quarrels and fights with bounty hunters/drug dealers/criminals/pirates in huttese if he heard someone cat call a young woman. The catcallers would usually start arguing with him and threatening, until they saw a lightsaber on his hip. Then they just left the girl alone. Once he got in a quarrel because some guy said that pod racing sucks, though. That was the only time he got a lecture from Obi-Wan afterwards.

4. Anakin always forgets that Padme knows huttese. So when he sometimes unexpectedly goes from normal to huttese in arguments because he is a petty bitch and would definitely do that, Padme starts arguing in huttese too, so Anakin starts feeling like an idiot and always gets really annoyed. Sometimes he sings some huttese lullaby and she continues it. It always makes him happy.

5. Once he was on a mission with Yoda and met a bounty hunter that spoke huttese. They needed information from him, so he started talking to the bounty hunter, only to get interrupted by Yoda who started talking not just in huttese but in a super specific bounty hunter/pirate slang. Anakin promised himself to never go on a mission with Yoda ever again because there were some things that he didn’t want to find out about him.

6. He taught Ahsoka some huttese too. She is a quick learner so she got pretty good at it. Especially swear words cause Anakin knows too many of them.

7. Now every single person who is close to Anakin speaks huttese, except for Rex. Sometimes all three of them, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and Anakin, speak only huttese to annoy Rex. It always works.

8. One time Yoda suddenly started talking to him in huttese (yes, in that weird slang because it seems that that’s the only version of huttese Yoda knows) in front of Mace. The look on the Master’s face was priceless when Anakin answered in huttese as well. Anakin’s still not sure if that was a dream.

9. Since he’s basically bilingual he sometimes (though very rarely) forgets some word in the intergalactic, and says it in huttese. Thankfully, he almost always has somebody to help him. Also Ahsoka learned a few interesting words in huttese that way.

10. Artoo understands huttese, obviously, so Anakin loves talking to his droid in it as well. Also, since huttese has more swear words to offer than intergalactic, Artoo loves doing that even more.

11. All of these things finally make huttese mean more to him than just the language of his own former slavers. They make it about love and friendship and laughter and gentleness. They make it about the compassion and the good that Anakin has in him.
