yes, i am posting again.
maybe i am obsessed…… i don’t care.

anyway, this one is about the geonosis outfit! there is not a lot of detail for me to go into, so this one is fairly short.
because padmé was free of the strict political dress of naboo, these scenes allow for more freedom as to what padmé wears. the simple white jumpsuit and clothed poncho give a very distinct star wars feel, but also allow for many callbacks that i will talk about! fun fact: if you look on padmé’s right arm, you see a silver band. this represents political service.
the costume design for this piece, pictured above, done by iain mccaig and dermot power, showed that the final piece was a lot like the plan. although the poncho was never worn with the hood in the movie, there are pictures of natalie portman wearing it is that style.
the pieces for this outfit are capri skin tight pants, either a tight, white long sleeve shirt or a tight, cropped, white shirt with one long sleeve and one sleeve cut off and a tear in the back, a metallic armband, shinguard boot tops, a light tan utility belt, white calf high boots, and a optional light tan shawl.
the clean cut lines and slick style do this piece remind me of jumpsuits common to the 70s. because of the high boots and large belt, this theme is enforced. (reference picture for the belt/boots below)

perhaps the most obvious is the resemblance to leia’s outfit in the beginning of empire strikes back. both of them wear white with tan accents, both of them have their hair up incorporated with braids, and both of them look badass in these outfits.
although less obvious, the belt that padmé sports, while also very useful, is a callback to luke’s outfit in a new hope! so are the boots, and overall theme. like mother, like son.
this outfit is used for most of the last part of attack of the clones, and it really show the more powerful and athletic side of padmé, especially after some of the senate and naboo outfits.
overall, i love this look, i love padmé, i love natalie portman, and i love star wars. thank you and goodnight.
