This entire Russian-Ukrainian conflict is a complex situation because each side is reporting different things while the American media is running in the back on fire screaming ‘WAAAAAR!’ And Americans can’t see anything but their own propaganda that has been trying to ‘predict’ the Russian invasion for a week now, failing every time. But however this entire thing goes, this is what you need to know motherfuckers:

Do not fucking go and start hating Russians. Do not fucking go and start hating Ukrainians. Do not fucking go and start hating Russians while protecting Ukrainians and vice-versa.

If it doesn’t reach your mind that normal people cannot affect what’s happening, and that the governments (Russian, Ukrainian, Republican, American) and NATO are to blame, then I am telling you this right now.

Don’t you dare fucking go and project Putin’s actions onto innocent people that live in Russia. Don’t do the same thing to Ukrainians. Normal people don’t want war, on either side.

The artist is such an important role in society, especially now, because living is difficult. You get tens of bad news every day. You watch the world burn: pandemic, climate change, riots, forest fires, hunger, pollution, political lies, corruption, inflation, pain, pain, pain. You look at that and it gets hard to breathe sometimes. It had never been like this before, I’m talking pre-20th century world. Life was hard in different ways, but people weren’t as overwhelmed with bad news and problems as they are now. And artists are the ones who remind us of why we must continue living. Of how beautiful, wretched, but beautiful this world is. You open the news and see another school shooting, another politic in jail for stealing money, another flood, another coronavirus statistic. But then you open the internet, Idk, Pinterest, tumblr, wherever artists create, and you see a beautiful photograph of a woman running through the field. You see a painting of sunflowers, a poem about a sunrise from the eighteenth century, you hear a music piece that makes shivers run down your spine, you watch a movie that has all those magnificent shots of the sea and the rain and kissing. And you understand that all is not lost. That there is still good in this world, and beauty, and love, and you live another day to see it all again. Artists remind you why you even live — for love. Without the artists we would all just suffocate in our fear, greed and suffering.
