SW REBELS APPRECIATION WEEK – DAY 6: FAVOURITE DYNAMIC
GhostCrewFamily – “Star Wars is fundamentally about family. When Simon Kinberg and I would get together to talk about Star Wars Rebels, we would always come back to that touchstone. Rebels would be a story about a group of individuals who came together to form a new family while helping each other understand their roots and overcome the tragedies they endured once the Galactic Empire took over,” Dave Filoni
Idk but there was something very…home-like in watching the first season of swr as a ten year old. Before it became a show with Mandalorians, Ahsoka Tano, Thrawn and a grand finale (which I do not complain about), when it was just a show about this group of rebel renegades that found a home on a silly painted ship called the Ghost, it made me feel very peaceful. There was something about their adventures, stealing and fighting and studying the Force, that seemed like it came straight out of an adventure novel.
I think we can all just agree that Star Wars women
“Well,” the Grand Admiral said, his voice strangely calm. “One must give the Rebels full credit for ingenuity.” — Star Wars: The Last Command (1993) by Timothy Zahn
Every Star Wars female villain I know is interesting because they aren’t driven to do evil things by love. They don’t strive for love, they don’t avenge a lost love, they don’t turn evil because their love left them, they are in no way connected to it. Assaj Ventress (before she was redeemed in Dark Disciple) was a villain who wanted power and revenge on her dead sisters. Arihnda Pryce was a woman who had ambition that drove her. Trilla Suduri became an inquisitor because she was betrayed by her master. Barriss Offee isn’t exactly a villain but whatever she did she didn’t do for/because of love, she did it to prove a point. Aura Sink does have relationships, but they don’t mean much to her anyway. She wants money or revenge, she simply has no time for romance. Of course some anti-heroes or villains that are female in SW do act the way they do because of love, but most of them don’t, and that’s fantastic.
