Favorite SSC scenes, in no particular order (45/?) — Romeo and Juliet’s wedding ↳ The romantic music, the atmospheric lighting, the beauty of the chapel itself. This is not just an introduction to the series but also for Rosaline and Benvolio as characters as we learn a lot about them in a short amount of time. Both of them are opposed to Romeo and Juliet’s marriage but serve as ultimately supportive witnesses, visually paralleled to the iconic couple and foreshadowing their own complicated love story. We see Rosaline’s initial curiosity at Benvolio bursting into the chapel and reflecting her own concerns; Benvolio’s interest and failed attempts at flirting with Rosaline, feeling a sense of kindredship with her shared opposition to their cousin’s union; and a first glimpse at their bantering and the type of dynamic they’ll have later on. And after the ceremony, the four of them are once again mirrored as Rosaline and Benvolio observe Romeo and Juliet’s happiness while quickly glancing at the other, unaware of how they’ll be bonded in the coming weeks.
