okay so as dreams go this has to be the weirdest, even weirder than the one I had the night before last when I dreamt my colleague in our canada office called me in the middle of the night to tell me something hr related.

yeah I dreamt that mayo el was actually alura’s son, aka kara’s brother, aka the whole reason she fell for him was because of that genetic attraction thing I’ve heard vaguely about??? and god this was so trippy just remembering it esp when kara was kind of relieved (yeah idk what’s going on either) because she couldn’t understand why she was ever with him romantically either, and yeah the whole thing was a big mess and I honestly don’t know how my brain gets this weird and concocts such things esp when I am not even invested in supergirl anymore anyway and yeah @ mina’s head wtf is going on

yeah I mean it’s one of those ships where if you’re wearing the shipper goggles you’ll definitely see it. still gross though.

also you’re right. the actors are a big reason why people ship these things, like with wince$t, so much of it is about j@red and jen$en and the camaraderie they have with each other (that leads people to theorise that they’re secretly fucking and that their wives are beards and their kids are just a coverup) but I’m going off topic here, sorry.

I don’t think oliver and thea gave off those vibes. you’re right. it’s entirely how people read into things. but as much as I see stuff about those vibes, I don’t really see much queence$t shipping going on, thankfully. with lance$t though I’ve seen people on tumblr ship it. like I made a canary sisters/danvers sisters parallel once and someone wrote something in the tags like “the ultimate foursome” and I checked, and they shipped k@lex and lance$t, which, just, ew.

I don’t get queence$t at all (like, gross) but I know someone in a certain fandom I heartily dislike was saying that oliver and thea were giving off psuedo incestuous vibes in season 1 (like, what, because thea saw ollie shirtless and ollie kissed thea’s cheek this one time?) so I know that it’s not unheard of. 

for the winchester brothers, though, they do kind of ask for it with the subtext they have going. like - a freaking angel says that the winchesters are erotically codependent, people mistake them for a couple all the time, dean comes out with things like “sammy I get all tingly when you take control like that”, etc etc. which is not an excuse to ship two brothers together but I kind of can see, gross as it is, the basis for people shipping them.

of course there’s also the intersecting racism and sexism that comes into it due to the fact that the four leads of the show are straight white men and almost every single recurring female character has been killed or written off and so aside from de$tiel, wince$t is naturally the biggest ship on the show even though both of them consist entirely of subtext and in the case of wince$t, incestuous subtext.
