Remembering 2008
Wait guys, I finally get it. Nastia didn't break the tie at the Nastia Cup because she lost the tie break in the Bars EF in Beijing!
Shawn Johnson on beam at the 2008 American Cup.
Paul Hamm on parallel bars at the 2008 American Cup.
Please pray for Lais Souza, 2004 and 2008 Olympic gymnast, who was injured while skiing.
Throwback: In honor of Mattie Larson's recent retirement, here is her floor routine from Day 2 of the 2008 Olympic Trials.
"One of my favorite moments from the Olympic games was walking into the competition arena for the very first time for podium training. The six of us were standing in the tunnel together and we all looked at each other wide eyed with butterflies in our stomachs. We had a little moment telling each other how proud we were and how amazing it was that we were at the Olympic Games representing the United States of America." ~Nastia Liukin
Remember that 2008 Uneven Bars Event Final Tie?
"One of my favorites was Australia. It was for my first World Championships in 2005. The people were so warm and welcoming, and the country itself is beautiful. Another favorite has to be Beijing. Achieving my biggest dream of winning the Olympics there left me with very special memories, but unfortunately I never got to visit the Great Wall, so it's on my bucket list to go back." ~Nastia Liukin (on her favorite places she's visited because of gymnastics)

it's amazing to realize that this little girl 5 years later is on the national team
Transformation Tuesday: Gabby Douglas
"It’s a huge honor and a cool opportunity. I wanted to show that you don’t need to be 13 or 14 years old to be a gymnast. You can be older and still have good results.
When I first got the offer I was a little nervous. But then I thought, “You’ve worn a leotard in front of a billion people; this isn’t that different.” Plus, I work out really hard and I’m proud of my body." ~Alicia Sacramone
