reasons representation in star wars is important: i was at a convention this weekend where we did an in character meet and greet/playdate event with kids as disney characters where i got to be rey. children, of course, have SO MANY QUESTIONS about you (as the character) and your life, and the biggest one i got was, unsurprisingly, “where is bb-8?”

so naturally, i said that bb-8 was off with my friends finn, who used to be a stormtrooper, and poe, the pilot. normally, kids tend to question why, or push or go off about things, but this one, 6 year old girl, simply replied to me, “oh! it’s because they’re in love, right?” 

so i told her yes, yes they are.

this little girl is unaffected by the outside influences of the internet, social media, ship wars, or other people making her think things that don’t just come to her mind naturally. she simply saw that movie, and without seeing the sex of these two characters as an obstacle, accepted the idea that they were in love.

and that’s incredible.

So, when Poe and Finn have a gap of approximately 10 years it’s a problem but when it’s between two white straight people no one question it (for instance, there’s 10 years between Leia and Han, 18 years between Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, 28 years beetwen Emma Stone and Colin Firth in Magic in the Moonlight !!!),

so, episode 8 is gonna have rey doing her own thing, since she left at the end to find luke, she will probably do jedi training, leaving finn and poe alone together at the base. and a romance always bloom between the two remaining, when they spend time together.

THIS. 100% this. Also, here's to Leia realizing Finn can also wield the Force and teaching him all her moves - REMEMBER PEEPS, SHE'S CANONICALLY A STRONGER FORCE-WIELDER THAN LUKE.

When somebody says that Poe is straight and StormPilot is dumb

In case you haven’t noticed from all the Stormpilot I just flooded your dash with, I loved SW: TFA.

Look, all I’m saying is you couldn’t get more cliche “I’m about to kiss you” eyes if you TRIED. As in, “right before they both lean in and start making out” eyes.

I just… Cannot get behind FinnRey. I don’t think they had any romantic chemistry at all, and I feel like they are going to try and force a romance between the two with all the hugging, because there is some unwritten rule that two main characters of opposite gender must get together, but it wouldn’t be good. I totally see them being Jedi-apprentice best buddies, though, and getting up to shenanigans together, much to the chagrin of Luke.

FinnPoe, though. Their chemistry was almost immediate. How they came from two opposing factions but trusting each other right away and celebrating their escape like they’ve known each other forever. And when they crash, Finn is so devastated when he can’t find Poe, but then THEY FIND EACH OTHER AGAIN and their reunion is so beautiful. The way they look at each other is just heart-wrenching. They’re fucking perfect for each other. Just let them be together please. The trilogy can go to crap for all I care, Jar Jar can be the damn emperor. Just let me have my stormpilot.

Hey all you fan fic writers When one of your characters is/was abused and has ptsd, having their love interest attempt to “fix/heal them” is really gross and dehumanizing. Just a heads up. 😉✌🏿️
