There was a time in my life when being called a “bitch” would have offended and hurt me very much. Now is not that time. It took years, but I finally learned that, while the word “bitch” can certainly be a truly negative thing, most of the time people use it incorrectly. Most people call a woman a bitch when she is taking charge, speaking up for herself or those around her, having an unpopular opinion, acting like a tough leader, being assertive, or having a lot of self-esteem… basically, when a woman is acting like a man. The word “bitch” can mean someone who is being rude, nasty, and horrible (and it definitely sometimes does mean that!), but most of the time, it means a girl is acting in a way society does not expect her to act.

Real life is nothing like the life you had made for your Barbies. It’s impossible to have that boob to waste ratio, no man will ever live up to Ken, and pink convertibles aren’t even a thing. Damn you, Barbie, for giving us such unrealistic expectations of young adulthood! Thankfully, The Most Popular Girls in School, a stop-motion web series on YouTube, came along to give us a less PG rated view of our favorite doll. While the series is hilarious, it’s almost funnier in gif form.
