15 Moments From Daria That Changed My Life
It wasn’t until I was older that Daria actually made sense to me and truly became a formative influence. I watched it again as a teen when it was airing on The N and in the early stages of my teenage I-hate-everyone years, Daria and Jane felt like role models. We were on the same page in this weird journey of teendom and their cynicism was refreshing. Watching it now, I’ve actually noticed how much the characters all grow as individuals, something that normally doesn’t happen in many cartoons. Daria became a little less misanthropic and even her shallow sister, Quinn, discovered some inner depth. The characters aren’t as stereotypical as they seem and it’s just a great commentary on what it means to be a teen, no matter if you were a Jane, a Jodie or even Sandi, president of the Fashion Club.
