Girls with curves have had it up to here with people telling us that our shape needs to be smoothed over, squeezed smaller, or draped in tent-like cuts of fabric. Everything I have read about learning how to style for my body shape has gone like this: “wear black, a-line is nice, idk put a belt on it, wear a big chunky necklace to distract from your big chunky thighs.”
Curvy girls come in all sizes and shapes from Beyonce to Tess Holliday. We have big boobs and no butts, big butts and small waists, no hourglass waist but killer legs and everything in between. Yes, some of these fashion rules work for some body types, but I’m done pretending that all curves flow the same.
I’m also done pretending that fashion rules are meant to be followed. If you like it, wear it. If it makes you uncomfortable, don’t do it. But, I love stripes, prints, and bodycon and no fake fashion police is gonna stop me (and they shouldn’t stop you either.
