In the depths of her family's ancestral summer home, Queen Snow White carried to term two beautiful baby girls. The fraternal twins' existence was a closely guarded secret, so deeply hidden that the fates themselves failed to predict how the sisters would alter the threads of countless lives.

The first of the two children was named Emma, and was prophesied to be the savior, protector of all that was good and just. The second, was given the name Helena, and was destined to safeguard her twin from the darkness, both outside and within.

The agents of providence however, had far more sinister plans for the duo. Their dark machinations separated the sisters, scattered them amongst the multiverse, so that each instead aged apart and alone, transformed into Swan and Luthor, neither knowing of love nor of the others existence.

This is the story of two women's quests to find the ultimate solace, family...

Charming rubbed the hand gently between his wife’s shoulder blades. He looked at her with a near desperate desire to provide some semblance of comfort. His neck was bent forward and forehead placed against hers. He solemnly whispered, “I know my love…I know. We’ll think of something—Have faith. She’ll find a way back to us or we’ll find her, we always do...""

"All 25 of the 1979 Volkswagen Beetle's horses roared with the fury of 1000 sewing machines, as Emma attempted an upshift to pick up speed on the straightaway, but the aging transmission sometimes had a mind of its own when the driver wasn’t totally focused. She’d almost skipped the appropriate gear, but saved it the last second, with the only consequence being the cringeworthy grinding sound that’d emanated from the car’s transmission.

Unfortunately, as had become typical for her in the midst of all the craziness, she was pretty much flying blind, running on nothing but instinct and adrenaline. As a result, she was more prone to make mistakes. Hopefully, her choice to head directly into a gigantic swirl of black clouds, with bolts of lightning arcing between them, wouldn’t be another entry in the chronicle of her many bad decisions over the years..." 

"Before Regina could retaliate against his verbal jab, Emma’d taunted, “I heard tell that you didn’t hesitate to defend yourself. All I see here, is a genuine misunderstanding of bailiff’s authority. Wouldn’t you agree, Madam Mayor?”

“Seems like an issue for the courts. Certainly not a matter of concern for the executive branch,” Regina supported. 

“Ahh yes, I should have expected that the former Evil Queen would jump at the chance to bow down to her conqueror, the Savior,” sneered the Dark One. 

Regina’s magic was a tumult within her. Her ego demanded that she strike back at anyone who would dare insult her so, but her heart pulsed even at the insinuation of her throwing herself before her Savior’s mercy, ready and willing to receive whatever repentance Emma demanded of her..." 

"“I’m Snow White,” blurted the woman that the local Sheriff had thus far only ever referred to as Mary-Margaret. 

Such impassioned spontaneity drew Lena’s attention, and thus she looked towards the other petite ravenette. As Lena’s head turned, she was surprised to note a determined gaze was already upon her, as if the identifying disclosure was for Lena’s individual enlightenment.

“O boy, here we go,” the aforementioned law enforcement officer mumbled..."

"Lena exploded out of her chair with more passion than Emma had yet seen the tiny woman muster.

The ravenette then stomped her away into the center between everyone, held her right arm bent outwards at a forty-five degree angle, and pointed her index finger accusatorially at Reinga. “I’ve had just about enough of this nowhere place, but mostly I’ve had enough of you. It’s clear to me that you are working through some sort of baggage between you and these people,” Lena argued as her hand gesticulated between those she’d mentioned, “And I want no part of whatever deterministic bullshit your using to cope with whatever crap you’ve done...""

"“I mean it Regina,” Snow warned.

At an astonishing speed, given its lack of magical supplementation, Snow ripped a large knife from its sheathe hidden under her shirt at the small of her back. 

She held the fixed blade tip first towards Regina. The crescent moon shaped curve of its belly glinted in the afternoon sunlight. The skin of Snow’s hand palled at the strength of her grasp upon the grip. 

The amber eyes of the former Evil Queen seemed to zero in on the distinctive blue leather wrapped around the handle. Her gazed jerked upwards from the knife and directly at the face of who’d threatened her. Mauve lips parted into a grimace, with enlarged canines bared. 

“Care to test your luck? This steel tasted the Dark One’s blood only yesterday…your humiliation could easily be added to his.” 

Regina’s eyes took on a character of purple brightness, almost as if they’d begun to glow..." 

"“I feel as though I’ve been abducted,” Lena protested. Her hands were cuffed at her front and an incredibly petite, but also deceptively strong, raven haired woman, armed with both bow and arrows, pulled Lena along by an arm snaked around her left elbow. 

“Nonsense sweetie. You just needed a little convincing to tag along is all,” the dainty kidnapper clarified. With her free hand, she gently patted her victim’s forearm in consolation..."

"When Emma and Regina re-entered the space that would serve as an impromptu interrogation room, they saw that the mysterious stranger’s face had hardened into a carefully constructed mask of indifference.

It was the Mayor’s educated guess that this wasn’t the first time the stranger had found herself on the receiving end of intense examination by government officials. Watching Emma’s bull headed determination, clash against the interloper’s obviously well practiced stoicism, was likely to be very stimulating for Regina..."

When the Sheriff’s sunglasses interfered with her ministrations, she yanked them off her face and held them by the rim down at her right side. With her remaining left hand, she rubbed downwards the entire length of her face, until her fingers settled over her chin, where they remained as her mind puzzled..."
