2024 H/D Erised Fest Announcement! 

Hi friends! It’s June, and if you’re anything like your (new!) and very excited mods, you’re already thinking about @hd-erised!

We had a wonderful fest in 2023, and we cannot wait to see what 2024 will bring!! We hope you’re as excited as we are. The full schedule is below so you can start planning ahead for H/D Erised 2024!

Drarry Fic Rec: Always the Last to Know

Oh my goodness, this was SO much fun! I absolutely adored the tone throughout, light and  and funny and just utterly charming! Oblivious Harry and dramatic Draco were such a delight, and OMG the story of Draco's birth was amazing! Such a lovely build between them, and I really enjoyed all the other characters and friendships! This just flew by and left me with the biggest smile on my face!

Drarry Fic Rec: Blackbird Rising

What an absolutely absorbing tale! The case here was so interesting, and I always love a good "working together" fic—so great to see Harry and Draco slowly get to know and fall for one another, and especially for Harry to see the ways in which Draco had grown from the boy he knew. The slow burn between Harry and Draco was glorious, and so satisfying when they finally gave in! I also loved the background characters, and the strong themes of love and friendship and found family. Such a lovely, gentle, nourishing read!

Drarry Fic Rec: True Love Gave To Me

But then Harry Potter shows up, asking him to save the world, and it turns out they’ve almost saved the world a couple of times before. One-hundred and forty-four times, to be exact. Or: what happens after the time loop?

What an absolutely charming read! I absolutely adored the writing—so vivid and evocative, and I could so perfectly picture the gorgeous wintery, Christmassy atmosphere! I LOVE tropes with a twist, and the approach here to deal with the aftermath of the time loop, and from the POV of the person not actually stuck in it, was so fun! The build between Harry and Draco was lovely, and the time loop worked so well to sort of accelerate that build in a way that still felt satisfying and believable, and Good Dad!Draco with adorable Scorpius were both so heartwarming. Basically, I thought this was excellent and the PERFECT holiday read!

Drarry Fic Rec: Nothing Gold Can Stay

I enjoyed this SO MUCH! Multiverse is just such a fascinating concept, and it was so fun the way the author used it here to give us the best of established relationship and getting together fic! I also loved all of the side characters and the various relationships. Wondering pining, and the conclusion was gloriously satisfying.

Drarry Fic Rec: Clear Skies, Full Hearts

Harry’s the highest scoring rookie Seeker in the history of the League. He’s also, inexplicably, obsessively, hooking up with Draco. When Draco unexpectedly quits the League and disappears from Harry’s life, Harry doesn’t stop wondering what it all meant and if he’ll ever get another chance to find out.

This was such a compelling read from the first line! The tension and connection between Harry and Draco is so visceral, and I really adored Harry's voice. The smut is seriously hot, and the ending was so lovely and satisfying! Not to mention, little Scorpius was too freaking cute!

Drarry Fic Rec: Martyred

Title: Martyred Author: @doingthechachaslide Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, past Draco/OMC & Harry/Ginny, background Ron/Hermione, Seamus/Dean, Ginny/Luna, & Astoria/Pansy Rating: Explicit Word Count: ~81,992 Content/Warnings: horror, mystery, minor character death, Auror!Harry, shower!sex, first time, switching, bottom!harry, bottom!draco, @hd-erised 2023 Summary: Harry moves into an old Black family estate to help care for Andromeda after Teddy throws the towel in. He finds ghosts, family secrets, and a certain blond gardener hell-bent on steering him away.

W O W that was SUCH an intense read, but SO SO good!! I do love a good gothic horror, and the vibes on this were just perfection. The relationship build and plot development were both perfectly paced and balanced, and all of your background characters and their various relationships were great and added such realism to the story! I also loved that they are both in their fifties--we don't get a lot of long!fic with older Drarry, so this was a treat! The author definitely managed to get that spooky, unsettled feeling without going too over the top, and it was so cool how everything was resolved in the end. One of my fav Drarry reads this year!

Drarry Fic Rec: Sharper than a Sea Serpent's Tooth

Title: Sharper than a Sea Serpent's Tooth Author: @goblinmatriarch Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, background Ron/Hermione Rating: Teen Word Count: ~41,000 Content/Warnings: unusual jobs, enemies to friends to lovers, @hd-erised 2023 Summary: Draco expects his research trip to Crete to focus on the ecology of ward design, with perhaps some cheeky visits to the elusive sea serpents and the odd sleepy beach day. Instead, he encounters a Past he's spent over a decade trying to outrun, and a familiar scowl under glasses and a scar. Featuring just so much imagining being on a hot, sunny beach for your winter pleasure.

I absolutely LOVED reading this--I was sucked in from the first word! All of the background characters were wonderful, and I particularly enjoyed Draco's friendships with Harry's friends, and the way that felt quite authentic and warm and well-earned. Their careers were so fascinating and the magical theory was super cool, and it was a delight to see them slowly come together.

Reveals are here for @hd-erised and I can now claim my fic for @lumosatnight. I absolutely loved writing this story and had the most fabulous prompts to play with which made me so giddy on receiving my assignment. Thank you to the wonderful mods with a particular "thank you" to @gracerene for also beta reading my work and making it immeasurably better. You are a wonderful friend and I so appreciate that you have beta read my Erised fics every year alongside all your modly duties! You're a star.

I AM REVEALED!!

This was so, so much fun to write. After @oknowkiss single-handedly reignited my drarry feels with last year's amazing gift fic for me (still thinking about how fucking clever it was) I was pretty fucking thrilled to get to write for them this year.

Big thanks to @sorrybutblog for letting me pick their brains, to @gracerene for being a forever rockstar beta, to @moonflower-rose for being the very best cheerleader and panic buddy a chaotic blob could need, AND to everyone who read this and had a good time with it!! This was such a lovely read!! I so enjoyed the mature take on them both here, and Draco's POV was an utter delight! Past relationships can be a tricky trope for me, but I really loved the author's approach here, and I really appreciated the way they could both look back on the past with compassion and understanding. So lovely to see them move forward together at last and UNFF it was all so super hot!
