“In one of the most notable moments in sports history, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped thinking he had completed the race.

 A Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, and after realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't understand his Spanish. Fernandez eventually caught up to him and instead of passing him, he pushed him to victory.

A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?"

Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.”

The journalist insisted “But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win.” The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”

Ivan looked at him & replied, “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of that medal? What would my Mom think of that?” Values are transmitted from generation to generation. What values are we teaching our children? Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways to WIN.”

The best part of the Iroh and Zuko moments was when Iroh was messing around with Zuko and his angst

The Very Best of Dante Roman Basco

This is my tribute to a very talented and sweet individual who has made so many people smile with his witty one liners, his passion for his work, and his love for his fans. Weather he’s saving mythical creatures in NYC, tormenting Peter Pan with food fights and sass, dancing alongside Antonio Banderas, chasing the Avatar around the world with his tea loving uncle, secretly crushing on water tribe peasant girls, flying bi planes and saving Republic City, or screaming his catchphrase HONOR! for the whole internet to hear, the versatility and skill of a fine actor shine though whatever role he’s placed in. Dante is also a wonderful poet and dancer, and continues to evoke the best in fellow poets. It’s very clear how hard this man works to give a performance his very best. His dedication and love for his fans have made Dante a favorite at conventions and panels. This is what I have to say to him. 

Mr. Basco,

You have brought many fanbases together with your work, and you continue to inspire so many. I’ve been your fan for a good long 10 years, and I will always have a deep respect for you. I remember the first time I was flipping through the channels at age 7 and stumbling upon the Avatar world premiere. I loved Aang and Katara and the rest of the crew, but no other character has ever been as enjoyable and fun to watch as Zuko. While most of my friends and the local kids were Aang or Katara fans, I always loved Zuko. I never could get over how interesting and deep he was, and it was you who brought him to life through your expressive voice and beautiful animation. I also was an avid fan of Jake Long. I never missed an episode and Jake’s witty catchphrases and hilarious misadventures were always a good time. Later on in drama class, my teacher had us watch Hook and boy was I hooked(pun intended). When you came down on that wagon and backflipped your way into Peter Pan’s life, turning it all upside down, I knew I was a Rufio girl. Whenever I get the chance to talk to you on tumblr, your responses are always lovely to read. Your dedication to your fans is so admirable. You are a very unique and charismatic person who I will always hold a deep respect for. I wish you nothing short of love and happiness in your life and hope that other people will learn to be as dedicated and wonderful as you,
