Additional point to #3, when Ai had the kids, she still said she still had never felt true love before. And during the phone call she had to tell him her new address, she said, “No, I’m not trying to get back together or anything.”
I feel like, Kamiki’s serial killer obsession wasn’t just with women who were bright, rising stars before their peak.
He’s obsessed with bringing them “to justice” because Himekawa Airi, Hoshino Ai, and Katayose Yura were all liars. Both to their fans, and in real life.
I do think that it’s a possibility that Kamiki felt, and believed, that Ai loved him. And later on he felt that he had been jilted, and taken advantage of once again, just like Airi did to him. This will have been the second time that he’s siring children and not going to be able to tell the truth that he is the father.
And telling the truth led to both Airi and Ai’s deaths.
But in stark contrast, everything about Arima Kana is honest.
Her acting and her crying trick were based on her honest feelings about thinking of seeing her parents die.
When she feels sad, you clearly see it in her dance performance.
When she sees Aqua, she is excited and never held back from telling him she was glad to have seen him again.
Whenever she gets teased about crushing on him, she gets wildly defensive but so incredibly obvious about just how much she likes him.
Kindaichi said that the best actors have deceptive eyes, the power to make lies look like truths.
But Arima Kana has no such eyes.
Arima Kana has nothing but honesty.
