Ashes of Rage: Act 1 - Change is Painful, As is Growth

Chapter 7 of the story for: @miner249er

Summary: Two individuals are faced with change and though it scares them, they are both ready to face it...for Marinette.

Notes: Sorry for the wait! I got a promotion at work and have been training! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter. :)

Change is Painful, As is Growth:

Everything had changed and Chloe was someone who hated change. Change scared her. She was five when the relationship between her mother and her father changed, next thing she knew, her mother had moved to New York and only came back to Paris when she deemed it worthwhile. She was seven when her dad changed, he was still affectionate with her, but he had become very paranoid about her safety and future. They had, by no means, been in need of money, what with the hotel and her father being mayor, but he seemed to believe they needed more. Chloe had never complained because she got anything and everything she wanted, but with her dad focusing more on the hotel and his work as mayor, he started spending less and less time with her. She was nine when she first got in trouble for bullying another student, it had been Marinette and Chloe had acted out of anger when she saw the girl and her parents when they got dropped off. She saw how Dupain-Cheng’s parents smiled at her, hugged her, kissed her, and walked off with their hands held together like some cheesy rom-com couple. It had made her heart hurt and she felt the indescribable urge to make the girl hurt. That was the day her father finally seemed involved in her life.

She was ten when she changed. If being bad is what caused her father to pay more attention to her then she decided she would be the worst she had ever been. At first she had felt bad for her behavior, but the more she didn’t get in trouble for it, the less bad she felt for her actions. There was still a small part of her that knew that what she was doing was wrong but she just did worse things in response to that small part. Every time her mother visited them, Chloe made sure to be her worst because she knew if she did, her mother had a higher chance of remembering her name. The first time her mother called her Clementine, her heart broke. It took Jean-Claude two days to cheer her up and convince her to come out of her room. Her dad hadn’t even noticed. In response to this she changed more, she decided she had to be every synonym of ‘bad’.

Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

>:)c

May I present to you, nationalclothing.org?

It doesn't have everything, but it's still my first source when researching traditional clothing from other cultures.

There's also this resource on historical fashion: Claire’s Historical Fashion Reference & Resources

another addition as far as physical media goes there is the encyclopedia of national dress (that i still need to buy myself bc this kind of thing is super important to my sort of fantasy designing) but yes i do agree i wish there was EVEN MORE documentation on this

The Scribe Who Didn't Like Musicals

This idea has been sitting in my drafts for, idk how long now, so I just thought I'd share it.

Tighnari had been visited and called upon more times in this past week than any time he can remember. The people of Sumeru are experiencing a very weird...illness. It all started with a leyline as most weird things do. It happened to a party of Adventures' Guild members, some Akademiya students and professors, and some poor unfortunate people who got stupidly curious plus a sprinkle of those with bad timing. No one knew or, rather, no one admitted who activated the leyline but activated it was, and all those around it and all those in a 25 mile radius were splashed with what could only be described a blue non-sentient slime.

The slime itself held no elemental properties like they usually did, nor did it look like normal slime concentrate. But they did find out if it was touched with bared skin, it affected those who touched it as well. Luckily, Tighnari hadn't been affected, though they still didn't know what it would do. So far, the only recorded symptoms were high fevers and sniffles. Or at least that's what the called in doctors said.

But then...then things got weirder. It started being reported that those who were affected would spontaneously burst into song and dance, whether they wanted to or not. And many were reported to sound...angelic even if they had sang like a dying cat before the weird slime thing. Sometimes, their songs were accompanied by broadcasted illusions. Those seemed to be a rare addition to the affliction though.

At first, this wasn't something to panic about, but the things people sang about started to get....very personal and something they probably wouldn't have admitted to if they were in sound mind. When people saw others singing out secrets, many infected tried to hold in the singing, and that's when their symptoms got worse they got sicker and sicker the longer they held in their song. There was one reported death so far, but it was that death that pushed the rest of the unaffected of Sumero to call in help from other doctors, alchemists, hell, even some adepti.

Those who found the illness amusing in the beginning started to fear it. There was an incident where a high-ranking official in the Corps of Thirty started bringing people into his office and sang about how he wanted his wife to choke him while he....anyway it wasn't pretty and many came out a little more than traumatized if they happened not to get infected themselves. They still didn't know how it was spreading without the slime being present, but it was being worked on, as well as a cure.

That all would be fine if Kaveh hadn't been among those first infected. He was refusing and doing his best not to sing. It was affecting him hard, and he was so very sick that Tighnari was scared for his best friend, oh, and also for Alhaitham, who looked so worried for Kaveh that he might fall sick himself. But of course, Kaveh was oblivious to it.

Tighnari, Alhaitham, Cyno, Collei, and even Faranak, Kaveh's mother begged him to just sing. He still refused. He even stopped talking all together. Then something happened, Tighnari didn't know if it was Faranak's crying pleads or Tighnari's, but he suspects it was something else, someone else. He had seen Alhaitham visiting by himself, and it was after one of these visits that Kaveh started singing. And it was like once he started, he couldn't stop.

At first, it was little things, like about his frustration of the past, frustration with his mother for forgetting about him despite the fact he also sung about he he didn't blame he. He sang about how much he loved his friends, how much Alhaitham frustrated him.

They all did their best not to overreact, Alhaitham seemed like he was suffering the most from all this. Then Kaveh sang how he loved Alhaitham and was glad they were friends again or well friendlier. He sang about he wishes they were more but knows Alhaitham doesn't feel the same.

That day was a rough one....Kaveh completely shut down after that one and barricaded himself in his room and stopped talking. It took Alhaitham breaking in through Kaveh's window and him shouting at Kaveh that he loved him back. It took a while for Kaveh to believe him and more for him to sing again.

It was the final song he sang before a cure was found that hurt them all. His friends had always known about his self-esteem issues and his generosity that seemed to harm him as much as it could. From the lyrics, Tighnari called the song "Writing on the Wall" in his head and oh how it broke his heart, especially when his friend seemed to be one of those people who also displayed illusions to accompany his songs. The sight of all the red x's and the sight of his friend hammering at a doll of himself had him sobbing.

He was cured after that but had become withdrawn after, but they didn't let him isolate himself like he was prone to do. They took care of him until he was back at 100%. That's when they spoke of everything altogether. It wasn't easy, but they came out of it with stronger relationships, and now, instead of Alhaitham and Kaveh fighting all the time, they bantered or were sickingly sappy.

Even if they annoyed Tignari with how cute they were, he found he was far happier now knowing how his friends felt since it was a catalyst that helped all of them talk about their problems.

Even if Alhaitham became the biggest wife-guy in all Teyvat.

I definitely want to flesh this out more when I'm not super busy, but if anyone wants to try their hand at it, they are welcome to! Just credit me for idea. I don't know why, but my brain was begging to use my love of The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals/Starkid with my love of Genshin characters.

Is there anything good you can say about Adrien at this point?

I don't know if this is asked in anger or genuine, but I've said it before: I don't hate Adrien.

He's got a good heart, but he's flawed. Everyone is. But since this is asking about the good, like previously stated, I think he's got a big heart and tries his best to be a good friend and peace keeper. He is doing his best to take control of the little things he does have control over, and I can't be mad with that as it is a perfectly understandable response given his upbringing. He's more than a little naive, but he's doing the best he can, y'know?

Do you think Adrien would abuse his children if he had any?

No. Or at least not intentionally.

I think he could go three ways. The 1st route would be an Anarka 2.0. We have no doubt that Anarka loves her children, but I think she takes the no rules thing to an extreme. I fully believe she was the child of strict or rich or both parents and swore to never be like them, so when she had her own children, she decided she would have no rules. This could be fine, but in other ways, it makes for an unstable household. We've seen how the kids have been affected by her no rules behavior, which did lead to her akumatization. I've said it before, but I genuinely don't think Juleka or Luka would express if they wanted the house a little cleaner and less cluttered because they don't want to upset their mom. We just don't know, like I don't doubt she's a good mom and would be there with advice or even punishment if the situation needed it. I mean, for all we know, they do have small rules here and there, but from what we glimpse that doesn't seem so.

2nd scenario is that he becomes just like his dad. In this case, he might start to emotionally abuse the child just like his dad did him. Again, I don't think he would do it intentionally. I just think if he went this route, he would be following in the generational trauma route.

3rd scenario is a mix of both households, and this would be the most stable and the one where I don't think he would. In this case, I see him going to therapy and healing.

Though there is one thing I think he would do in all scenarios, as this is a character trait we see, he would be a gaslighter. Once more, not intentionally, but we already see him do this on more than one occasion, and I genuinely don't think it would stop unless someone called him out on it and he genuinely listened.

Just wondering, do you think it’s possible for Dark Parables to come back?

Only if another company bought the rights. Because it went from Blue Tea to Eipix, and I'm pretty sure Eipix was bought by Playrix, and no new games are being made for the series nor Mystery Files if I remember correctly.

But if another company wanted to take a crack at the games, I would be all for it! Maybe a reboot or just remastering the old games and then continuing on. I would especially love to see a continuation of Cursery

Well, the short of it is that unlike the movie, Adrien doesn't find out his father is Hawkmoth and Gabriel gets his wish, with Adrien believing that he died as a hero.

Yeah, that's about exactly what I thought was going on. Sad to know I was right. The show had so much potential, but to make Gabriel die a hero is like the worst.

Finishing up the Trix with Stormy!

Design wise, I gave her vitiligo because it's something I've seen done, and I adore it. I did play off of her original design but added a more punk element sort of. Her hair is more colorful with no other reason than I thought it would be cute. I gave her platform boots that have little wing attachments to them and went for more of a black, red, and pink color scheme outfit wise.

Witch transformation wise, her hair is darker as I thought this was a good way to show her aesthetic and reflect her powers. She has her iridescent bodice that is supposed to reflect the colorful lightning storms that happen. I don't know if it comes across well, but I love it. Her shorts have a half umbrella skirt with jewel raindrops. She has a long fabric piece that connects the separate elements of her suit, and it is a giant lightning bolt, and the treads on her boots also have little lightning bolts! And of course, she has her 'S' charm and her neckpiece.

Headcanons!

•Stormy actually loves cute and fun things, but she suppresses it and hides it as much as she can because she doesn't think it fits a witch.

•Can cook really well because her grandpa used to show her how when she was younger.

•Has two older brothers.

•You can tell when she's upset because the air has a certain electric charge feel to it, plus hair will literally be standing on end or static-y.

•Has a high spice tolerance

•Her full name is Stormella Corentine Burzyński

Haunted Blessings

This is a ml x dc x dp idea!

Marinette had been fighting an akuma when it happened. It was this little girl named Charlotte who got akumatized because her parents had been ignoring her requests. A friend and party-goer who was at her birthday party explained that 'Lottie' was sad because her parents were too busy to hang out with her and when her special day came, they ignored her wishes. She had wanted a princess themed party with a hired Fairy Godmother that she had seen posters of. Charlotte had apparently taken several of the flyers to put around her house so her parents wouldn't forget what she wanted. They had said they would hire the Fairy Godmother, but the day of the party came, and instead of a Fairy Godmother, Charlotte got a clown...and not a good one either. The clown who was currently stuck in a cage looked like someone bought a cheap clown costume and thought that was that. He didn't even have makeup on.

Oh noooo....my brain came back to this and was like, "Why not add Spidey to the mix?" Specifically, MCU Spidey, mainly because he was 14 is CW, and I just really love Tom Holland's spidey.

Second reason being, I think it would be hilarious yet heartbreaking if Danny, Marinette and Peter were all 14 with a little 12 year old Ellie all suffering from young hero syndrome and who all feel like the world is on their shoulders.

Reason Spidey is there is because he got portal-ed there while fighting a new villain with Tony and Strange. I headcanon the three get closer sooner. Why? Idk just yet. It could be time travel fix-it magic. It could be because the time stone "told" Strange to get closer to them because "the fate of the multiverse depends on it" shenanigans. Who knows!

Either way, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man gets portal-ed on the rooftop, too, and his spidey senses are going crazy and there are some other kid...heroes? He hopes they're heroes - sitting in a pile. The glow-y boy is hissy, but Peter doesn't feel threatened. No....worse....he feels protective! He, for probably some stupid spider reason, immediately joins the pile and relishes in the feeling of "protected" and of "protecting."

He's thinking that maybe he and his merrily little band could use more protection and is debating whether or not surrounding them in a wall of webs is too much or not enough when they all hear feet hit their roof. Actually two pairs of feet, and immediately Peter is shoving whoever he can behind him while somehow being hugged tighter by Glow-y Boy.

He has no idea what is going on, but how dare these people approach his new family????

------------

I have no idea if I would have them all in the same universe, all different universes, a mix-n-match of universes, or what. But it's a fun idea to think about.

Wait, I knew you stopped watching the show around Season 3, but you haven't at least heard how Season 5 ended?

Lol, my dear Anon, I am very disconnected from the show at this point. I think I've seen a couple of episodes of 4 and like snippets of episodes, but nah. I have seen nothing and have heard very little of what is going on. I don't mind spoilers, though. I just haven't seen a lot recently.

Have you gotten around to watch the Miraculous Ladybug movie? If yes, is it better than the show?

I have! A while back, actually. I don't know if it's better or not, I kind of looked at it like it was DC or Marvel. It's just a different universe and telling its own version of the story. I really thought the animation was neat and pretty fluid at times. The dynamic change between Chat Noir and Ladybug was actually really interesting to see play out.

Did not care for the ending, but to my understanding, the show kinda had a similar situation going on, which I will be the first to admit is a direction I hate. Like, I saw it coming and even anticipated it, and yet it still hit me like a sack of potatoes.

I know people complained about the singing, mainly the voice change, and while I did find it weird, I didn't hate it. It threw me off in the beginning, not gonna lie, but I got used to it, and the voices for the singing are good.

Next in the Trix lineup is Darcy!!

Design wise, again, I leaned into y2k fashion more, but more so in the boho/hippie fashion offset of that category. I gave her striped hair since I felt like it fit her style more with the direction I wanted to go. She's got nine piercing, four in each each and one on her lip. She is also a thrifter when it comes to her clothing.

Witch transformation wise, I leaned more into her powers of darkness, which is why her hands, feet, hair, and cape are inked in darkness. Her face always has the shadow over her eyes, and her eyes shine brighter in this transformation. She does have a closed third eye on her forehead, but no one is quite sure if it is makeup or real. She has the iridescent bodice as well, along with a charm with her initial on it.

Headcanons!

•She is very into poetry, and if someone makes fun of her for it, she curses them to speak only in rhymes for a week.

•She is an only child but has many cousins, and despite being an only child, she was never one to seek out the spotlight. She was fine sticking to the shadows even at Cloud Tower, but she does like when she's respected and feared.

•She has a soft spot for animals.

•Her full name is Darcelle Belladonna Blackwell

•She loves psychology, and it is a study she excels at.

•She makes handmade soap and sells them at Cloud Tower for some extra money, but she keeps her identity a secret as the seller. It's something she feels that Icy and Stormy would mock her for.
