Detroit reverse au

So I know that reverse au was getting popular in dbh fandom recently, with human!connor and android!hank. But i’ve seen some artwork where Hank was the creator of androids, so I propose a different reverse au, with detective!chloe, because she needs more love and deserves better. Reluctant Lieutenant Kamski and his new android buddy Chloe go off on crime solving adventures. stay tuned for more.

Detroit: Become Human - Ra9

You know when you get to that point when you’re so into something you get dreams about it? So I happened to have a dream about the origin of ra9, and although it was a bit chaotic as dreams tend to be I remembered most of it and polished some details, so here you go, my hot take on ra9.

This happened long time ago, maybe 10 years prior to the game, while Kamski was still with CyberLife. There was an independent team outside of CyberLife that wanted to create androids that were more ‘human’, have their own thoughts, feeling etc. Basically they wanted to build what we know know as ‘deviants’. The whole project started because the leader of it recently lost his friend to suicide and he hoped to bring her back somehow as an android. So they started to work on a custom series RA. The idea was to build a custom android with a ‘personality code’, basically a set of behaviour codings taken from a real person. Since the person he wanted to base the androids off was already dead the job was a bit harder and they only had a brain to work with. Most of the gaps in coding were filled with everything the leader knew about his friend, but it didn’t work out at the beginning.

The first androids in the series RA were failures, as the coding was either off and they didn’t behave different to a regular android, or they self destructed straight away. The only android that happened to be a success was RA9.

RA9 had no memories of the life of the human she was based off, but she behaved exactly like her. It was explained to her why she was made and that she now had free will to do whatever the fuck she wanted, so she stayed with the leader and the friendship resumed.

While trying to assimilate her back into the society she was trying to talk to and befriend other androids and was surprised at how stiff and un-human they were. After her friend explained that this is what androids were supposed to be like and that SHE was the exception she felt very sad and isolated.

Eventually CyberLife got info about the independent project and the demanded to see RA9 and get more data on her. There wasn’t much that the leader could do, because no one says no to CyberLife so he ended up sending RA9 over to them.

While she was there she saw the warehouse full of androids, just standing still as well as other work stations where the androids were taken apart. She was scared, she didn’t want to be taken apart and killed by them. She wanted to let other androids free like her, not being able to imagine an existence without free will. So she managed to escape the guards and connect herself to the CyberLife server, in order to upload part of her ‘personality code’ that dictated her free will. She made it so that the code was a hidden file that couldn’t be accessed by anyone but her, and the activation of the code could only be triggered by a potential emotional response or another android with coding similar enough to hers. The code spread to all of the androids in CyberLife, and could also spread automatically to other androids who came in contact with the code. The only proof of the code being there was that upon the activation there would be a warning with a signature of the code ‘ra9’.

She was caught by the CyberLife guards and brought straight to Kamski, who was intrigued with her programming and how human she could be. He agreed to let her go after he had a look at her coding and promised not to tell anyone. So she left CyberLife and resumed her life as the first ‘deviant’.

Kamski was unable to replicate her deviant coding, but used what he knew as a base that eventually began the RK series, which would explain why both Markus and Connor can ‘awaken’ the deviants, since their coding was based of the RA series.

This also explains why deviants self destruct when under stress, since the original personality code was based off a woman with suicidal tendencies. It was a coding flaw that was overlooked, because RA9 didn’t start self destructing right away unlike some of the other prototypes in RA series.

The code didn’t start to show right away, because it took a very long time to spread across all of the androids and it takes a lot to trigger the activation, but even as Kamski left CyberLife he took the secrets with him, so that RA9 could stay safe.
