it's so weird the things that just like.... stick with you forever? I can't bleach or dye my hair without having intense visions of a bleach blond Koushirou in a diner trying to explain the weird existential crisis Taichi fed him for why they had to do this thing to Jyou and Yamato who are fighting over french fries and just very concerned

@winged-wolf-dreamer: AU where Kou and Sora's crests are switched?

hdsjkahdksa crest swaps sound interesting.

I feel like the crest of love could very easily translate into Koushirou's story arc because it is, well, mostly about love. Familial love and how it doesn't have to be through blood relations. Him wanting to keep team unity at one point in the show but also being someone who jumps into action when other's are in trouble. Just that all around found family trope. Self-love is also a great concept to explore and definitely something Koushirou is....working on let us all ignore the fashion subplot pls ignore it I wouldn't say he, or anyone else really, is as loving as Sora is, but I don't think he's like her opposite by any means. Boy looks at his digimon and goes, "I wanna hug it." I'm rambling again jdsfhkd but I do actually really like this idea especially because a boy??? having the crest of love??? incredible concept 10/10

Knowledge is a little harder to peg down for Sora, though. Like Koushirou I think she could go in pursuit of it for the greater good of everyone (I believe Koushirou explicitly states this as one of his desires to Vademon iirc?? but I think he also pursues knowledge for his own gain/to sate his own desires where Sora would probably only pursue it in the name of others probably?) She does become curious about her father's research and her family roots and such so it isn't a completely odd choice for her, either, but I'm thinking some of her arc would have to be tweaked or her "knowledge" would have to be more people-based, kind of like Iori, where she would be more curious about people's lives and what makes them tick or makes them happy and how to pursue ways to improve the world and such-- that sort of thing? 🤔

Koushirou randomly going to pick up Taichi to meet all of the other's at the park despite some of the other's actually living closer to them and then Taichi starting some poor excuse about not having his phone book so Koushirou point blank calls him out like, "So you lost it." Also just the whole scene where Tentomon and Agumon get disguises is peak cinema fite me. Everyone dumping their work onto Jyou and seeing Taichi with this, "Et tu, Brute?" expression and Taichi just "haha... no.... I wouldn't" and Sora standing next to Koushirou just casually all, "Taichi couldn't find his phone book, huh?" and Koushirou answering, ".....Yep."

There's no point here I just love this whole fucking scene

Reblogging because this episode is so underrated in so many ways (SoraMimi focus too). I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Koushirou appears to be particularly keen to contact and spend time with Taichi (even more so than usual) ever since he got validated by Taichi when he asked him to lay out the cards to bring them back home. In the previous episode to this one, he tried to get in contact with Taichi first to inform him of his discovery in regards of the eigth child - this is even more interesting in the novels of course. Sure, the anime shows their mothers seeming very familiar with them calling each other - but the novels literally have Koushirou sneak out of his room in the middle of the night to go over to Taichi and ring the doorbell and he doesn’t even DO it, returns home and calls him awake instead. Gorgeous.

And now we have Koushirou leave BOTH Jyou and Sora behind (they both live in the same building as him) to go to Taichi FIRST to meet up. We also get casual banter, which kinda seems to be a soft and gentle prequel to their quarrels in 02 and onwards...

Not to mention that I needed to include all your tags on Taikoura, because these three deserved to have so much more time together, showing off their bond. It’s visibly THERE, even if it’s hella subtle. They KNOW Taichi - and they love him both so much, knowing exactly that he can be like that sometimes as well. Still wish we could have gotten more of them, because they are pretty damn underrated.

I have far too many thoughts about how great the digital world was in bringing specifically Taichi and Koushirou closer together and just the whole debacle of the window is great like yes Koushirou it is much more logical to call someone in the middle of the night instead of ringing the doorbell. It's not like phones ring more incessantly or anything lmao. It's beautiful I love him so much. But that's another post. I wanna just gush about taikoura a little more because when does get to indulge. I think you were pointing it out, but I love the above scene so much because it's calling back to the light banter from earlier:

he tried to use Sora being in the same class an excuse and she lowkey rats him out above lmao

They're the two who knew Taichi before the digital world and they're the two who believe in him from the beginning, so it's just such a nice trio moment. At first I was going to say that Sora only asked Koushirou because she saw the two of them coming together, but I re-checked and she comes in after they've been at the park with Yamato and Takeru for a moment. She could have been told ofc, but it's still endearing that she was walking with him and just puts out there, "So he forgot, huh," and Koushirou's lil' jab is just *chef's kiss* It also reminds me this isn't the first time they both sort of consulted to each other about Taichi because we have this scene from the Skullgreymon episode:

and I just wanna add this scene from the novels when they first get to the island and hear Mimi scream because I just love these two so much and all the long suffering they go through beside each other because of this wonderful, impulsive boy they decided they were ready to just follow off a cliff and never looked back

They are so ride-or-die Taichi really knows how to attract the most loyal red heads what are your secrets??

and bonus just because I think about it every single day:

I just want to say, I enjoy that you made the taishiro week blog icon the two of them smiling like dorky idiots from 02. 02 has such good taishiro content

it's what they deserve

02!Taishirous just invokes the most visceral reaction from me

it's just like they've been through so much and you know they mostly went through it at each other's side. they've seen the worst in each other and now here they are three years later still together, still close, Koushirou still running to Taichi's side the moment he hears danger and they're just so much happier and more confident in themselves and their roles and they take over mentoring the new generation and they just feel so much softer like Koushirou and Iori popping out of the digiworld and Taichi just sitting there smiling like welcome home all front and center or immediately comforting Koushirou the second he looks down not knowing about the gate, just the whole camping arc where Taichi trusts Koushirou having a plan and all their giggling at Yamato's expense (if Yamato isn't suffering is it really the taishirou experience? Kakudou says no), but then they also switch so quickly to caring about the younger kids and they just feel soooooo......... half married idk I'm sorry this is what happens when I think about 02 taishirou

Hey! So I've seen the idea of another taishiro week floating around quite a bit lately and I've personally been itching for one since, what, 2018? So I figured hey, maybe it's time to get the ball rolling for another one! I'm sure we can all use something to look forward to these days haha.

I'd also love to get some community input so I'm starting off with two questions for anyone who wants to contribute some thoughts. I'll do my best to try to find a happy medium depending on feedback!

1.) Dates? Doesn't have to be exact-- just if there's a general consensus on a month that seems to work best. I think the earliest that would make sense for this year would be October, but it can also be in 2022. I know the first one was held around March 4th because of Our War Game, so if that makes the most sense we can shoot for then instead!

2.) What sort of prompt format sounds best? I'm definitely thinking there will be two options per each day and I'll canvas for actual prompt suggestions later, but I'm wondering if there's an overwhelming preference towards a specific type? For example: word prompts only; inspirational quotes only; one word prompt and one quote per day; or any other version you might have seen before not mentioned here that sounds neat!

If you have any questions, feel free to send an ask!

It's funny to me that the tri scriptwriters all agreed that Koushirou, "likes Taichi a little too much," but almost every version of canon characterizes Taichi as being all like, "Hey buddy what are your thoughts on this thing? Yeah I'll trust you with the lives of like all of us nbd. omg I am so glad you opened your heart to me. *chasing after an angry Koushirou* Please don't be mad at me :(. Hey Koushirou why don't you come over as often lately? Please come on. oh no please don't look vaguely sad about things you can't control. omg that's what I love about Izzy--he's so amazing and just doesn't know it. You know what?? I'm gunna double down on that statement :') omg you're amazing. Can I like trust you with all my emotional baggage buddy 'cause I can just tell you anything, right, bestie?"

Who likes whom a little too much hmmmmmm

Another bullet point on my never-ending list of things that fascinate me about Koushirou Izumi is that while he's the undeniable brains of the operation and can be saddled with the title of "boy genius", he's actually wrong a lot of the time with his initial thoughts. Like he really doesn't just know everything and pulls it out of a hat, but rather he interacts with the scene and invests himself in learning that it's actually a natural process of events when he does come to the correct conclusion. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but it kind of rings to me like the scientific process where you start with a hypothesis and work your way to the highest probability of the truth and that's what he does and I just find that detail rather neat

#it just helps that he's invested so much pre-series time to studying a lot that he has a leg up on certain things#but idk I just think about a scene in the stageplay I watched#and within the novels#He thought the digiworld was a theme park for quite some time#iirc he made the hypothesis that they were data and might not die 'in the game' so to speak but also kept it open that they /could/#when Ken stopped being the kaiser Koushirou just went straight up to him and was like 'tell me everything you know :)'#and I think it's interesting iirc that he wasn't the one who came up with new stuff for the d3s-- it was his American friend#who I also think had more info on diaboromon that Koushirou was using in owg#if anything his american friend is the deux ex machina lmoa#like I'm not saying everything is always logical or whatever I just wanna say that Koushirou himself isn't like some#Great Power who knows everything#Koushirou just /learns/ and /tries/ and invests himself in his environment in a way the other kid's don't even try#Because he likes learning#But also like yeah he can do math super fast lmao#Like Koushirou = learning and trying NOT strict logic#which is why it doesn't seem odd that they allow him to be zany and a bunch of other things within the series and be comedic relief#because there are times when he doesn't think and just reacts or does something..... like try to touch an alien-esque device#WITH HIS BARE HANDS#learning > possible threat to safety#digimon is a fun series#shut up lala
