I never super considered Gilgamesh and Kingu's relationship before but you really have me thinking about it. In terms of your Kingu/Gilgamesh love, how do you usually anticipate the Chaldea situation working out? I really love these types of dynamics where someone struggles with moving on from a past love, so this pairing is really appealing to me! Er, assuming you look at their relationship as romantic anyway.
Personally I think it's equally enjoyable to imagine Gilgamesh having to come to terms that even in Chaldea Enkidu will never return (If Kingu is summoned in place of Enkidu) and as such grappling with feelings of Kingu being a "replacement"; or Gilgamesh developing a sort of relationship with Kingu outside of Chaldea, and having to grapple with the fact that he either now has to abandon his feelings for Kingu, or reject Enkidu for someone made in his image.
Ahaha yes I was talking about it as a romantic pairing.
But I’ll be real with you, I have no idea how Chaldea works 😭 I find FGO’s lore very confusing. I agree, I really like Enkidu just not being summonable. His death being impermanent undercuts so much of the tragedy and development that it kicked off. Not to mention that the point of the Epic of Gilgamesh as a story is coming to terms with grief and mortality.
(Albeit, I know Enkidu shows up in another Fate iteration… Strange Fake maybe? I think that actually would work in a Stay Night offshoot sense because the Holy Grail War in those settings tends to be about regrets and is framed as a one time only thing. VS FGO where summonable heroic spirits seem to just be around all the time)
Anyway yeah I think… because Kingu’s very presence and how people react to them is the very source of their tragedy/growth, then I can see it being very interesting if they’re easily summonable in a way Enkidu is not. Like that itself must be devastating for all parties involved! The idea that Enkidu has been lost forever and then only this entirely different person forged in his image can be summoned in his stead.
