Bucky Barnes x Reader Imagine Was this right? "Y/n, I need you. I can't trust anyone else with this." He had told you. But this, this meant becoming a criminal. "I wouldn't put you in such situation if I wasn't truly desesperate." You knew you couldn't fail Tony, but you couldn't fail Steve either. Were you gonna play double sides? "I just hope I'm doing the right thing for the right person." You whispered, walking through the room, breaking the silence with heavy footsteps. "Steve. He's awake." You heard Sam's voice echo. Steve signed you to wait, meanwhile he was going to check his friend. You had heard millions of things about James Buchanan Barnes. He was Steve Rogers best friend. He was also The Winter Soldier. Professionally trained assasin by Hydra, tortured until he became an emotionless machine. Loyal soldier in the 40's who served proudly to his country. Was any of that left inside this person? Sam's voice interrumpted your thoughts. "Y/n, you can come in now. Remember, don't raise your voice or do any aggresive movements." You nodded, nervous, and looked at Steve for approval. "We'll be in here for anything." Sam reassured you, patting your shoulders. "Bucky, this is y/n y/l/n. She's helping us. She'll take your arm out of this big machine. She won't hurt you, she's a friend." Bucky nodded, you could see how tired he was. "If Tony gets to know anything of thi..." "He won't." Steve cut you. Slowly, you turned around to examinate the machine. You could feel Bucky's eyes on you, deciding on his mind if you were loyal to Steve or not. "How did you put him in here?" you asked towards Steve, checking around to see anything that could turn on the big metal thing. "There isn't any buttons or electric connections, it's all mechanic." "Strengh." Sam said with a proud smirk . "Strengh?" you tried not to raise your voice. "Are you stupid? You could have hurt Bucky's metal arm, any connections or systems inside it." you checked his arm, looking for any serious harm. Bucky froze at your closeness, not sure what to do. "Why your help?" the question slipped through his lips, as a whisper, only for you to hear it. You looked at him surprised. "I'm just doing the right thing." you whispered back. "How is the right thing helping a assasin searched by the government?" "It's enough to me knowing that you're not guilty." You quickly looked away, not waiting for a an answer. "Okay, I got an idea. I need you to use all of your strengh to throw yourself back, got it?" you asked him, taking out a little invention you and Tony had created a long time ago. You put it in between the big pieces next to his arm, and clicked the red button. Bucky was concentrated, awaiting for your signal. The little machine spread a metalic piece that created a little explosion. "Now!" you told Bucky, who instantly felt his arm release and in less than a second, he threw himself back. The big two pieces fell again, closing the space in between them and destroying your little invention. "You okay?" you asked Bucky. He just observed you and nodded. You heard Steve talking behind you. "Well done, y/n. But we still need to have a talk." his tone was serious. "Not here." Sam said.-"I know a place" [] You sat in the empty cafeteria, next to the underground station. "There was no creepier place?" you whispered to Sam, sitting across you. "At least it isn't crowded." Steve commented, at his left. "But it still is creepy." Bucky agreeded next to you. "Not good vibes." "I'll order then." Steve said, getting up and walking towards the waitress. "Can I go to the bathroom?" Bucky asked both of you. "No." Sam cut you, giving Bucky a glare. You kicked his foot under the table. "Ouch! What? He could scape at any moment." Sam explained, Steve appearing behind him with a pair of coffes. "So, are you gonna give me a lecture?" you raised and eyebrow towards Steve. "Cause not even my dad does that." "I just need to know, who are you siding?" he said in a low voice. "Because I confess that we need you in our side." he sighed. "Or you just don't want me to support Tony." you simply said, taking a sip from your coffe. "You can't agree with those terms." Sam said, not believing your words. "I agree with the fact that we can't impose justice among people whenever we want to." you said. "Y/n, you don't realize the government will watch each one of our movements." Steve tried to reason with you. "I do realize that. But there's people who need to be controlled." "People like Bucky?" he laughed coldly. "People like Loki." you reminded him. "People like CrossBones. People like Grant Ward." your voice softened at the last name, remembering the agent and how close you two were. "Ward was a traitor. No one saw it coming." Sam tried to reassure you. "But he caused pain. Lot of pain to innocent people." you whispered. "And he was in absolute control of his actions." "And it should be The Avengers job to get him. But there won't be any Avengers if you agree with the terms." "There isn't much time left to think about it." Sam added. "Y/n. We really need you. This whole situation..." you disconected from Steve's voice, focusing on the three man standing in front of the waitress, who didn't even aknowledge them. Their movements caught your eyes, and you poked Bucky next to you with your elbow, looking at him, seeing how he was thinking the same thing. "Earth to y/n and Bucky?" Sam's voice said. And suddenly all you heard was shooting. "Get down!" you screamed, Bucky's arms around your head, pulling you next to him, throwing both of you to the floor. Quickly, you took off your waist watch, another one of your inventions. Managing to get rid of Bucky's embrace, you clicked on a black button, and threw it towards the group of man. As soon as it hit the guy's chest, he got electrocuted, falling to the floor. This have you time enough to jump through the tables, wraping your legs around one of the man's weapon and disarm him, kicking him right after and leaving him unconscious. It only took you two more seconds to twist the left man's arm, unable to shoot at you, and hit his head on the table, dirty blood all over it. "You got some moves." Sam said, helping Steve to get up, meanwhile Bucky was approaching you. "We need to get out. Now." Bucky said alarmed from behind you. "I've got a car waiting." Steve said. "Follow me." You raised an eyebrow, towards Sam and then turning to Bucky. They shrugged, following quickly Steve out of the coffe. "Of course, you didn't know about any other coffe." you whispered to Sam, who gave you a deadly look meaning you should shut up. After some minutes walking around the area, Steve stopped in front of and old vintage car. "How cute." you mumbled, not really wanting to be seen inside that thing. "Sam, Buck. Get inside." Steve ordered, right after looking at you with that intimidating look. "What about me?" you asked, questioning him. "I don't know. Have you decided what side are you by?" you could see Sam and Bucky's head curiously looking the scene through the ridicolously little window, expecting your answer. "I hope I won't regret this." you sighed, offering your hand to him. Steve gladly took it in his, shaking it gently. "Then get in this precious car." he smiled. "If you say so." you giggled, raising your hand to your front like a militar salute. "Make place for me, boys." you announced, opening the door. "Why can't you take the front sit?" Sam asked annoyed, too lazy to move. You looked at Bucky for help, and he quickly got it. He growled, facing Sam with an emotionless face, and quickly nodded towards the front sit. Sam just looked back and forth until he gave up, muttering some unspeakable words while you sat next to Bucky. "We got no time for stupid things, guys. Clint's waiting for us." Steve said shutting Sam down, turning on the car.
